There is a lot to it, but racism and willful ignorance play huge parts. Kinda hard to explain to non-hispanics. There's a lot of "We are American" till they need help, then we're all "Latino".

It's like some kind of psychological flaw in the human mind. If we're ever going to pull ourselves out of the many gigantic holes that we've been digging, we really need to teach people that "admitting you're wrong" is a strength, not a weakness. If you can't admit you're wrong, you'll never grow! It's bad to stay stuck in a rut forever!

I think the extreme selfishness is the real problem. they won't admit they're wrong precisely because of how selfish they are: they only care about looking good.

What an ugly post. I've done my fair share of protesting the recent deportations and I'm a lifelong D voter. I just happen to also care about winning elections even if it means having to suffer unwinding some really questionable disinformation campaigns that people have been exposed to.

I only post on here in small bouts theoughout the year, but in the past couple days you consistently pop up to antagonize me with unnecessarily defensive replies. You can feel free to put me on your ignore list if you find me objectionable, frankly if you keep it up I can just add you to mine.

If I wanted to smell a field of bullshit I'd have visited my grandfather more often.

Unfortunately, today's social climate discourages a lot of individuals from doing just that. And you know why? Because people are more likely to dogpile on those who admit to being wrong than give them grace, especially on the internet.

I believe they're addressing the "religious" right who were raised to obey their omnipotent omnipresent authority figure, so they're naturally attracted to the idiot who wants to be that.
