Twin Moon Disco Necropolis (Graveyard Stage) Lost Forest Twin Moon goes to round 6 in my favorites bracket despite being a 7.5/10 lol I do like the Katamari thing though it's a 7/10 This spooky skeleton thing was made by TEK so I should like it more than I do but I'm pretty meh about it 5.5/10 PMD Explorers of Sky continues to be hit or miss - it's either like one of my favorite tracks or it's bad. This one is uh... I don't see the appeal. 3.5/10 Fortress Mode is just a guy jamming out on his guitar which I can kind of appreciate but I don't really want to listen to the whole thing 5/10 Lost Forest exists 5.5/10 ... Twin Moon Craggy Coast Lost Forest *sigh* Match 1 is a particularly hurtful choice. I am choosing Twin Moon because I supported it (and I really really like it!), but I love Bluffing Damacy a lot too, either option is a win for me. Match 2 is both songs I have no big opinion on, but I think I like Craggy's novelty a pinch more. I really liked Fortress and its acoustic solos, but Lost Forest is quite the masterpiece and I can't just not vote it, I'm afraid. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Bluffing Damacy Disco Necropolis (Graveyard Stage) Lost Forest I like the twinkling in the intro. Gives off mysterious vibes like a Schala's Theme from Chrono Trigger (I promise Chrono Trigger is not the only OST I know. I love the chill groove with the guitar and flute. There's some parts though that's a little harsh on the ears? But they're so isolated it's ... What are you doing here???? Still pretty good. I love how Bluffing Damacy is secretly kinda depressing, but you wouldn't know because the vocals are pretty chill. I really love that flute too! And the little claps in the chorus. It's such a facade of cheer. A bluff, if you will. The glitchy instrumental portion is fun too. I don't really have much to say on this one despite being my favourite song so far hahaha THIS IS SPLOINKY ... Ok now this is less sploinky. But this is exactly what I expect a song titled Disco Necropolis from a game called Skeleton Boomerang. The part with the fast xylophone-y part is so skeletoncore it aches. THIS SONG GETS FIVE BIG SKULLS OUT OF FIVE BABY!!!! There's this part of Craggy Coast that sounds like that PMD dungeon riff brings me back to playing Blue Rescue Team ..... This song really goes in a lot of places, in the latter half before the loop, it gives me those breezy vibes I get from something like a Mario Golf course. Neat, if a bit all over the place. A sad dwarf plays a Spanish guitar... A melancholic track for sure, it does well to represent the downward spiral that encompasses the gameplay loop of Dwarf Fortress. Magic forest music you have arrived. The piano is gorgeous, the flutes sublime, the guitar peak. Lost Forest is a very lush and immersive track. The way it escalates before the loop is just ugh ... I can't get enough of it. I'm so busy forcing my friend to listen to the VGMC bracket I almost forgot to vote. Anyway here's my first 9.5 [9.5] Bluffing Damacy [9] Lost Forest [8] Disco Necropolis (Graveyard Stage) [8] Fortress Mode [7] Twin Moon [6.5] Craggy Coast ... Copied to Clipboard!

Bluffing Damacy Craggy Coast Lost Forest Twin Moon is so cool, a very nice mix of instruments here. The pair of guitars and that one flute synth are easily the highlight for me here. It kinda reminds me of Nintendo eShop music in a way. Bluffing Damacy is one of those classic feel-good picks from Katamari, with a simple acoustic guitar, a catchy rhythm, and those nice and comfy layered vocals working in tandem. Just a chill and groovy time. Disco Necropolis isn't really disco, but it does have some catchy and spooky rhythm to it. This is just some HUGE "silly skeleton shenanigans" vibes happening here, and I really like the drop at 1:38 where it just achieves maximum grooviness. Craggy Coast feels like a beach theme I'd expect to hear from a Mario golf game. I guess it passed the assignment just fine with that vibe I get from it? There's some neat little dissonance to give you the mystery part for this, but it's mostly warm, sunny vibes with this one. Ehh, I want to like Fortress Mode more - it sort of goes the Tristram route with that sort of moody acoustic guitar and I do like the live recording style it goes with - but the melody feels like it's jumping all over the place and it's ultimately unsure of what it wants to be, even with the neat guitar choice it already made to begin with. I've jumped around a lot of how I feel about Lost Forest. I don't think it's the best forest theme I ever heard nor do I think it's the best that I remember from this soundtrack, but I think I finally get the appeal for this one. Melancholy-sounding songs tend to be hit-or-miss for me (sometimes I just prefer to skip to the happy-sounding stuff), but other times, the emotions linger for longer than I expect and that's when I start to make connections in my head that make me reevaluate what's in front of me. With this song, I don't picture a lost forest, I now picture a burnt one: a once vibrant landscape, recently thrown into the fires of tragedy. And the only thing you can now witness is just the burnt, hollow shell of nature's own self, with dark, floating pieces of ash tainting the once clean air. You can almost smell the sadness with this one. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Ano, Subarashii o Mou Ichido / Saisouban HD - Twin Moon: The flute is really nice. Chill piece. 7/10 (raised from a 6.75 previously) We Love Katamari - Bluffing Damacy: It's a bit repetitive, but it's also cute and endearing. 6.75/10 Skeleton Boomerang - Disco Necropolis (Graveyard Stage): Graveyard if you remove the "G." 7/10 Pokmon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness - Craggy Coast: PMD music coming in solid as always even if I will continue to reiterate it is nowhere near peak like Temporal Tower is. Anyways, this particular one reminds me of a Mario and Luigi song for some reason. 7/10 Dwarf Fortress - Fortress Mode: This one's quite relaxing. I really like acoustic guitar. However, I don't feel like this one goes anywhere. It just sounds like someone doing some improvisation. 6.5/10 Legaia 2: Duel Saga - Lost Forest: Ah, yes the runner-up in the Supracord forest contest and one of my vgmc 17 nominations. Pleasantly surprised to see it return. It has a really lovely soundscape. Gives me Faron Woods from Twilight Princess vibes (I was just listening to that song earlier today while working on stuff). 8.3/10 Lost Forest >>> Craggy Coast >= Graveyard >= Twin Moon >= Bluffing Damacy > Dwarf Fortress VOTES: Twin Moon Craggy Coast Lost Forest --- Fox Only, Final Destination. ...
