These stories always remind me of VFR pilots flying under instrument conditions and dying.

SAN DIEGO (AP) Two people died and multiple others were injured when a private jet crashed into military housing in San Diego during foggy weather early Thursday, igniting cars parked along a suburban neighborhood block, authorities said.

That line is ALL I need to know that it's likely this is some VFR schmuck who thought the day was going to be clear and it was ok and boom this shit happens.

Wasn't there a similar story of the pilot who survived flying in cloudy conditions close to the mountains in the North East? Something similar happened. They fly into cloudy areas not certified to fly in them get what happens in that video and die. I watch that video every single damn time I see it. All it takes is to eye the attitude indicator and you should be ok (provided you didn't lose so much altitude you accidentally fly into a tall mountain [then again AS a pilot you SHOULD know the height of all the mountains in your vicinity and should be intentionally flying above such an altitude]).

Edit: It was the pilot in flying over Vermont who crashed due to cloudy conditions. He cited his garmin as his savior (he looked at the attitude indicator) and detected he was in a death spiral.

This guy was flying a jet though, I'm surprised he has the certification to fly a jet but still crashed. Something must've happened to cause it, I hope it wasn't fog because his instruments should've saved him.

That's not something you do when you go flying, you don't just...gamble. No matter how many times you've flown in the area, and even more so when you're tired after flying for 6 hours.

A lot of these recent crashes have nothing to do with FAA. It has all been about pilots making terrible decisions.
