A new trademark for Hotel Dusk: Room 215 has been filed in Japan, and some are hoping that it could mark a return of the Nintendo DS game.

We typically dont report on Japanese trademarks as they tend to be overblown. More often than not, they are filings done to protect IPs and are not indicative of an imminent release. However, were in a bit of a different situation here. Whereas most Japanese trademarks for Nintendo games are for renewals, this is an entirely new filing. Additionally, Hotel Dusk now has a trademark in the country for the first time (there was previously one for its Japanese name Wish Room).

Hotel Dusk: Room 2015 originally launched for Nintendo DS in 2007. It was developed by Cing which closed its doors many years ago but that doesnt rule out a return.

You may recall that Nintendo published Another Code: Recollection on Nintendo Switch last year, which was made by Arc System Works. The package featured remakes of two prior Cing games. Its possible that Nintendo and Arc System Works are teaming up again to bring back Hotel Dusk, but it remains to be seen if that actually happens.

Also, the hack may have brought us the news that Arc System Works is working on an exclusive Nintendo Switch 2 game. However, the only details known thus far is that it has the codename Watari, tentatively targeted for a November 2025 launch, and is using Unreal Engine 5.4.

Remember loving the game so much imported the sequel over a decade ago as it didn't get a NA release.

Hopefully they fix the issues I had with the Another Code remakes.

• The collection cut several puzzles from each game. I'm not sure how many were DS/Wii feature specific that would've been difficult to replicate on the Switch, or if they were cut because the developers thought it would help the pacing.
• The gyro controls aren't tuned great. One puzzle in Another Code R was a huge pain in the ass because of this, and I probably failed most of the QTEs that asked me to use gyro.
• Auto advance for the dialogue would occasionally hang for a weirdly long amount of time before advancing. Hitting the button to disable it so that I can manually press to advance became common.
• Despite being a low budget release, it still had questionable performance issues (thanks, Unity!)
• Default camera controls were super slow for some reason. Also, there's a massive deadzone on the right stick, where it doesn't register movement until it's pushed almost halfway. For a game that requires a lot of looking around, it was a bit of a pain because of that.
• You can't select the game you want to play, both games are treated as one. Once you finish Another Code, it rolls right in to Another Code R as if it were another chapter.

Hopefully they fix the issues I had with the Another Code remakes.

NoA was on some real stupid shit around that time. They didn't release the sequels to Trace Memory or Hotel Dusk over here, didn't release Disaster: Day of Crisis over here, and were not going to release Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower over here either (the latter three did successfully come over via the fan campaign Operation Rainfall, but they were published by other entities; Gamestop for Xenoblade, and XSeed for the other two). All of these games released in Europe without any issues.

Then there was also them not localizing Zangeki no Reginleiv, ASH: Archiac Sealed Hearts, or Captain Rainbow, either. (Though to be fair, that last one may have been too weird for non-Japanese audiences.)

I remember rainfall - loved xenoblade, and the last story, but couldn't get into pandora's tower.

Pandora's Tower has a great story, but the game play was not good. Never did finish it even though I am at the final dungeon.
