MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) A Milford couple says one of their dogs is only alive because of the quick thinking of their other dog. That dog is now being praised as a very good boy.

In the surveillance video Sarah McCardle posted on Facebook, it may look like her two dogs are playing, but what is happening with the smaller dog, Yogi, is very serious.

I came home to him being blue in the face and having a really hard time walking and breathing, McCardle said.

She checked the camera that she had for the dogs and saw that little Yogi had a bunch of seizures. Yogi has been having seizures ever since he was about one year old.

He never liked being in a crate like we had, so he was in our bed, McCardles husband, Craig Strilka, said. So thats when he first had the first one, and I didnt even know what it was.

Yogi is 7 now. Yogis epilepsy was one reason McCardle and Strilka were hesitant to get another dog, but once Reggie, the boxer, was in the house, Yogi got a lot better.

He got him going and moving, turned him back into a pup again, McCardle said. He has saved his life in more than one way.

This includes this past Tuesday. French bulldogs like Yogi have small snouts that make it easy for them to aspirate or breathe in their own saliva, especially during a seizure. In the video, Reggie senses Yogi is in trouble.

He rolled him around so that he would get up and cough and not aspirate to get the fluid and stuff out and be able to clear his throat, McCardle said.

They got Yogi to the vet, and hes good now. But McCardle and Strilka know what could have happened.

If it wasnt for Reggie moving him all around and being here, I would have come home to him not being alive, McCardle said.

The video made a big impact on Facebook, where people commented that it gave them chills, goosebumps, or tears in their eyes. As for Reggie, he got a nice steak for dinner as a reward for helping his brother. We know a dog is mans best friend. It turns out they can be pretty good friends, too.

"Rolling the little fatass around when he's all choked up is fun! I also got a steak that night for some reason! It was a good day!" - Reggie.

I'm glad they didn't lose a dog and the other one somehow managed to help it.

But damn, I wish pugs, French bulldogs etc would stop being a thing. Or people actually research their health problems before bringing one into their lives.

My brother has a pug and had to get the surgery for him to breathe better, and even after that, it's only done so much. I fear for their long term health and how much of a struggle it must be for them.

Why did humans breed this thing into existence! Left is a pug, right is a normal dog.

I love dogs but this.

I think you're fooling yourself if you think the dog was like "Shit! He's having a seziure! Quick I'll roll him over and make him cough so he can recover."

Unless the dog was trained to do that and that's not what the video implies

Youve never had a dog come over and start pushing you when it thinks youre upset or hurt?

Dogs are not stupid and can read body language way better than we can.
