It's not uncommon to replace one addiction with another, and there is a big difference between weed and meth.

It really depends. I could probably smoke weed without any issue because that was never my "thing." I only smoked when I was drinking or hungover and once I got out of my drinking habits, I had very little if any desire for it.

Pretty sure meth is a red flag no matter what though.

Im going to sidestep meth and weed being in the same category..

Im going to also sidestep meth since that one should be obvious.

So that all aside, weed can definitely be a red flag if it turns them into a pothead. While weed isnt nearly as dangerous as meth.... there also seems to be a lot of misinformation about weed having 0 adverse effects as well when it comes to heavy consumers.

If that's at me, what I said didnt "break out any stereotypes." I didnt say all weed consumers were potheads. My post was very clear in talking about heavy consumers, and yes there are potential adverse effects in heavy consumers.

I agree. And I am a heavy smoker. I'm just wondering who these potheads are going around spreading misinformation about weed having 0 adverse effects. It sounds like something a teenager who just started smoking it would say. Weed is definitely not for everyone, can exacerbate anxiety pretty badly, and it can seriously fuck with your REM sleep. Not to mention getting resin in your lungs making you cough all the time. Apologies if I got you wrong.

Meth, always. Weed, I wouldn't be as worried about. I know a few people who quit drinking due to serious alcoholism, but smoke weed and manage their lives quite well these days.

yes its a red flag to be doing drugs as a recovering alcoholic. that doesnt mean the recovering alcoholic doing weed is about to go out and start drinking again necessarily. but the weed is a red flag nonetheless
