Company Gaudiy

Sony Group Corporation and Bandai Namco Holdings announced on Thursday that they have jointly invested 10 billion yen (about US$69.1 million) in Tokyo-based Web3 and AI company Gaudiy, to begin a strategic entertainment and technology partnership.

The partnership among the three companies will focus on five themes:

Promote initiatives to expand Japanese IP (intellectual property) to the global market and maximize its value, through Sony's subsidiary Crunchyroll, Gaudiy's subsidiary MyAnimeList, and Bandai Namco's IP-related products and services.
Enrich creation, encourage continuous creation, and nurture next generation creators of Japanese IP.
Combine the three companies' data assets to use for creating personalized entertainment experiences.
Build a safe blockchain ecosystem for fans and creators by utilizing Sony's public blockchain Soneium, and Gaudiy's tokenomics design and auction design knowledge.
Create new entertainment experiences with Bandai Namco and Gaudiy's pushes on the research development and application of Generative AI.

Established in 2018, Gaudiy uses blockchain and generative AI in its aim to create what it terms as "fan nations," or online venues where fans can connect and express their fandom. Gaudiy operates the Gaudiy Fanlink platform, a blockchain- and NFT-focused fan platform, which includes Sony Music Group, Bandai Namco, Sanrio, Aniplex, Shueisha, TOHO, and ComicSmart, Inc. as its partners. Gaudiy also operates the Gaudiy Financial Labs company, which is focused on providing Web3-based financial services, including NFTs and cryptocurrency partnerships.

E-book distributor Media Do Holdings sold all of its shares in the anime database website MyAnimeList to Gaudiy on March 26.

This Gaudiy company has seemingly spent the last 8 years writing hundreds of buzzword filled paragraphs about how amazing their web3 platform is going to be with absolutely nothing to show for it and are somehow still fleecing investors for millions. Gonna be great when it finally launches and 500 people sign up for it.

Web3 goons need to starve to death and yet it will never happen as long as they keep successfully selling the concept (note: never the implementation, because implementation is impossible) to all these companies

The promise of infinite money because your users will be so happy to buy virtual hats or make their own virtual hats to sell

Perpetually ignoring that this works for a maximum of one game and most people that play games have that one game already: these decisions are being made by executives whose focus is *profit*, not *making games people play or want to play*

Corollary: Japanese businesspeople *fucking love* the concept of a meta verse for some reason, nevermind that all attempts to make one have failed horribly

If anybody needs me, I'll be banging my head against a wall for the next few hours to deal with the sheer frustration this latest bout of corporate-AI idiocy has inflicted onto me.

AI investment is solid, Web3 not so much.

I mean, AI is where virtually all the worlds money is going to be funneled in to for the foreseeable future for better or worse.
