he was a dog around 13 years or so but still it sucks and now were lost without him

It really is. We used to have a routine with him but now everything just feels empty

Always blows when a pet dies. Have had that happen too many times in my life. Good news is that you eventually move on and remember remember what you had.

So very sorry for your loss. I lost the last of my three dogs in my signature last year, she was 18. Her mom and dad were16 and 17. I still shed a tear over them when I think of them.

He had been in a bad way for quite sometime but we did our best for him

A beloved pet dying is one of the worst feelings in the world. As somebody who has always owned rats, I know the feeling well. They only live two years and it never gets easier. There's something about losing a pet that just really breaks your heart. I think it's because they're so innocent and they bring out the innocence in us. It's like being punched right in the inner child when they go. Like a harsh reminder of how the world works.

A good pet absolutely changes us for the better and gives us many happy memories to look back on. He may not have been your best friend for your whole life, but you were his best friend for all of his. Take all the time you need to heal, never forget him, and remember that there are many other animals out there who need your love.

Been told we gotta make sure everything is suitable for a new dog(or dogs if we get two)

Something my dad told me when I was young that helps me get over an aminal's death when I asked him why they die. He said they our pets die to 'teach us about life'. It helped.

Dog's natural lifespan is far shorter than that of a human and therefore, it should not come as a surprise that this happened as it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Hopefully that alleviated some of the pain and maybe you'll be prepared for it better the next time if you decide to have a pet again.

I've had 2 budgies and they died of natural causes. It did not caught me off guard. I won't be apologizing for a logical interpretation.

TC expresses appropriate emotions at the loss of a dear pet, whereas you demonstrate that you don't give a single shit about the passing of a pet. Making TC more human than you are, quite clearly. Humans aren't logical robots, they are emotional creatures.

A human's life is worth far more than animal's and will cause more grief if they die. I didn't think this needed any explanation.

But to humor you, your grandma dying of old age versus being killed on the street would impact you very differently.
