I will say, as a whole this was probably the most solidly quality of the animated lists I've done (not counting Anime)

Like looking back at Animation 3 and 4, my bottom 8 from either of those lists would be competing for 29th or 30th on this list

I'm definitely going to have to disagree with this. Out of all of the new movies I've had to watch so far for this, I only sorta enjoyed one of them. Everything else has been mediocre to bad.

No incredible stand out like Marona, that's for sure. At least in terms of new stuff for me.

That being said, there's still a few movies to watch that I haven't seen before, but I'm seriously doubting any big standouts.

But I also understand where you are coming from with that statement since a lot of these have been super weird shit and that's kinda your thing, JB. LOL

I would say the HIGHS of this list haven't been as high (or at least a plentiful) as previous lists...but the LOWS haven't either.

Id say the weird shit is only really in the older movies though, most of the 2022-24 stuff is pretty normal all things considered

I might agree with this actually. Like there were a few movies on this list I liked a lot from series or directors I would've had near the top on other lists. Probably less 5/5s but significantly less like 2/5s and below

Yeah that is how I feel too, the last two lists had a few that I saw as "obvious stinkers" that I definitely never would have watched if it weren't for these projects, and this one only has like one or 2 of those that are here for their place in a specific studio's canon, so every film felt like it was at least worth watching. But there were also only like 2 or 3 movies I especially loved.

Maybe he meant the films that were new to him when we started the list. Otherwise yeah, Fantastic Planet and Son of the White Mare are obviously really weird, but I'm not too sure which of the more recently released movies would be considered super weird. Maybe Unicorn Wars? Memoir of a Snail touches on some more out there subject matter like weight gain fetishism I guess... Robot Dreams has that one part where Robot is dreaming about living with the flower people in Oz. That is about as much weirdness as I can think of from the recent releases on the list though.

19/30 and almost finished all movies I haven't seen yet.

Since I'm nearly done with them, I'll just go ahead and say this has probably been the least exciting and least interesting project I've been a part of so far. With a ton of movies being in mediocre to bad tier, I have like one film that MAAAAAYBE is a 7/10 for me, on a good day. A bunch of the rewatches will be higher for sure, but woooooof, this has been real rough, at least in terms of discovering something new that would make it worth it =/

I'm down to 8 movies i've never seen before but probably could use some re-watches.

Probably going to want a small extension of some sort. Between depression and a bit of busy time I've missed some days I planned to watch.

Also at eight left I havent seen. This has been a good list, not too many really great films I hadnt seen before but those I had seen before contain some excellent ones. Also I think most of the best ones Id missed will be from 2024 anyway, I havent seen either of the top two awards contenders from that year.

I will say, there are some weaker films. There are two 2/5s and another Ive seen before that will be a 2/5 as well. Two of those are just mediocre, but one is really bad, bordering on a 1/5. We will get to that when the list is going up!

Just rewatches left. Not gonna lie, it's going to be so damn refreshing to watch a movie I actually enjoy. Sad to say, this was a STRUGGLE. Especially that last film.

Also @Mythiot and @sergiocornaga you both expressed interest early on but haven't posted here since. Are you still planning on participating?

I'll probably need a minor extension. I'm nearing the end but I'll be a little busy this weekend. I'm not fully done the writeups for the movies I've watched either but they won't be all that long in general.

I'm at 22/30, a week long extension would be helpful so I don't have to rush the rest.

A week sounds good. Gives me time for some rewatches

Every film watched and all writeups written. Just have to take a bit of time to go over them and move a few films around in the rankings then I will submit them hopefully tonight.

Overall a good list, though a few very obvious weak links.
