Tbh these people are far too broken and too far gone to ever be reasoned with. I don't think any amount of education can fix this. Some times we have to accept the fact that some people really can't be saved.

Like on the one hand, I get it. They think that more manufacturing is going to be done here in the States and that well be able to make our own stuff and make a lot more money. And, like, that would be awesome if thats what ends up happening.

A common sentiment amongst many well-meaning individuals from the left (as far as I noticed) is that: education can fix this, and that these people "just need to have the right information". Unfortunately I don't believe so. We're just going to have to accept the fact that they're too damaged and too far gone.

These people will continue to drag us down. And I can't even begin to comprehend the amount of work need to be done by the next Dem president (if there's actually any hope in 2028) to remotely "fix" the damages these people have caused. May be irreparable

I've long since accepted that there are people in the world who are just ignorant, and no matter what evidence or facts you bring to them, they cannot get out of their own way to see reality for what it is. I've dealt with enough people in my life to very easily come to that conclusion.

What scares me, and what I'm still coming to terms with, is the amount of people who are like this. The last three elections have really highlighted this fact and it's just...yikes.

I want to think they've latched onto the idea that factory jobs are coming here and then stopped paying attention. But no, they're dumb and we all have to live with that

Until prices actually skyrocket and the stock market properly tumbles into a week or more straight of emergency brakes, a lot of people won't realize how much shit is hitting the fan

They're all in agreement that Trump is "winning" the trade war but they can have wildly different reasons for thinking so, most of which are incompatible with each other. Tariffs can be a tax we pay, others still think other countries pay it. Some say it'll spur domestic manufacturing, others insist it's purely a negotiation tactic. Some think Trump is sticking it to China, others say China is showing how unreasonable they can be to the rest of the world.

The scary and frustrating part is that they're all in agreement that they're willing to suffer if they think it'll work out. Maybe this will change when they actually start feeling the effects, but to see them share this sentiment when they voted him specifically due to financial strain is remarkable. More so when you consider how they fight tooth and nail against the move to green energy, something which would have a significantly less rocky start and benefits that would be felt within their lifetimes.

In reality, tariffs cratered the stock market and had no chance of bringing domestic manufacturing back to the scale they think it will. They were paused because the bond market is teetering on the edge of imploding. The only reason other countries are agreeing to trade talks is because they know if the US goes down it'll take everyone else with them. China is the holdout because they have the advantage and are waiting for the US to cave before talks can begin.
