Never played a Halo game in my entire life. It was a FPS which I strongly dislike in almost every scenario with very few exceptions. And it was a military sci-fi game which I hate. Though it had a story mode the big attraction seemed to always be the multi-player and generally speaking I detest and avoid anything with multi-player. Basically the only thing they could do to make it more unappealing to me would be include zombies. Then it would be the ultimate game with everything I dislike.

Might be my favorite game of all time.

343 guilty spark is one of the best level designs of any game. The foreshadow, the reveal, the change in tone from the game up until this point.

When you first land on Halo and the mystery of alien artifacts on subsequent levels.

i got so good at the multiplayer i started doing trickshot grenade throws to keep it interesting. throw frag on ground -> throw plasma above it -> use frag explosion to catapult the plasma and sticky ppl

I might be wrong but to me it is always "a FPS" as I'm simply saying "a first person shooter" though you could take the stance it should be "an FPS" when using the acronym. Honestly never really thought about it until you pointed it out.

I strongly prefer 2-3 but I enjoyed Halo and played a ton of PC multiplayer back in the day. Microsoft buying Bungie was one of the best risks they ever took. If that never happened Halo would have been a forgettable RTS game on OS X.

Honestly it's my favorite of them. The library does suck though.

No. Played a good amount of it in high school with friends, but I usually got bored of it pretty fast.

It was a lot of fun. I can understand why some gamers were salty about its exclusivity but for what it is its awesome. But the levels are too repetitive for a full replay in modern day imo. I tried. Couldnt get far.

That's only on Legendary, and if you're playing Halo 2 on Legendary you're doing it for a major challenge.

Halo: CE is one of my favorite games of all time. Ultimately, I do like 2 and 3 more, but the first game was one of the defining games of my childhood. And it's still very fun to play now.

oh hell no

one of the most unoriginal Doom clones there ever was, a choppy slideshow a lot of the time (unless you were up close staring at a wall and nothing was happening around you), sub-par visuals by any standard (let alone in relation to the technical capacity of the Xbox and high end gaming PCs of the time) and lazy, repetitive and padded content in every way possible, literally copypasting entire segments of the game multiple times over just to pad it out (I often wondered if the game had glitches and not loaded the next segment, but no, it was a "new" place, just virtually indistinguishable from the last one, two, three or more places I just came from), all littered with the same basic objectives and enemies from start to finish
it felt like they were trying to copy the Doom and Quake games visually with gameplay design inspired exclusively by Wolfenstein 3D, yet failing to surpass any of them

I honestly thought it was legit broken the first time I played it, like my copy of the MGS2 demo disc that came with Zone of the Enders on PS2, but no, that's just how bad the retail version of Halo actually was, and it was somehow even worse on vastly more powerful gaming PCs

the demo I downloaded for PC was literally unplayable even on the lowest settings, meanwhile I could easily run stuff like UT2003 (a significantly better looking game) with everything set to Ultra High with no issues

Halo easily remains one of the worst games of that generation, as I've yet to find anything else quite that bad
especially no other first party flagship titles were anywhere near this bad
by comparison, I'd much rather play early gen multiplat ports like Unreal Tournament, Quake 3 and Red Faction than Halo

honestly Halo felt like it belonged on N64 with it's 007fps cousins
if Halo actually had been a late N64 game I could've to some extent excused the piss poor performance, extreme reuse of content, horribly outdated gameplay design, sub-par visuals etc.

Love it. Very memorable soundtrack, fun levels, and honestly one of the best campaigns the series offers.
