I was expecting the scene from 'Wing' where Trowa uses Heavyarms to blast an armada from inside a circus tent

I was expecting "*explodes*" or something.

But yeah, Gundaminfo's (official) youtube channel has been uploading this and 8th MS team lately.

The cloak was one of the more... "sensible" designs. It was basically a wearable stealth armor that flipped out into wings only because you don't need it anymore and it is now just getting in the way.

I love how in Endless Waltz Duo realizes the Serpent shooting at him is Trowa because...it's shooting at him generically?

Apparently in the manga the Serpent does a cool jump and flip which is a much better thumbprint, if a bit implausible, for Trowa than 'shooting in one direction.'

I still have a huge soft-spot for the Gundam Wing designs. Heavy Arms Custom, Epyon, and Wing Zero are sick as hell.

Exciting times

If I were to post my favourite designs I suspect I'd get bonked for hornyposting.

TBH I kinda missed the boat with Wing. I got into Gundam with Seed (as anyone familiar with what my username's namesake could likely guess) since I was still new to anime so the combo of sick mecha and DRAMA! hooked me. Freedom's still my fav, it's got that sweet combo of silly chuuni angel wings but with enough robotic elements to carry it off, and it avoids doing what future Freedom variants did by jamming "cool" shit in. Just a simple Gundam design with a couple of sleek bells and whistles.

But back to Wing, gave it a try a few years later and it just never really clicked. Wasn't especially fond of the Gundam designs after the sleeker designs from Seed (Epyon is awesome though, if I still built Gunpla the Epyon MG is 110% a kit near the top of the list to buy. Absolutely sick design) and the characters were pretty meh.

I feel like Wing was one of those series you had to be there in the moment of its release to really get into. Going into it as a 26YO with years of hype just wasn't it.

I really like the season 1 Gundam 00 designs too. Yeah season 2 were pretty cool and in-universe it makes sense they would try to cut back on how specialized each unit was but the specialization made each one more unique too.

As for Wing itself yeah the writing is kind of dry for me, I re-watched it in college. Middle school me thought Relena was okay but older me appreciated her character development.

Gundam Wing has some awesome suit designs, but the EW ones never did anything for me. They're a little too much.

It's gone now, sadly. I did manage to pop by in 2023 to see it.

I had to laugh at the terrible initial planning for it - its original run was supposed to be December of 2020 to March of 2022. "Let's open up this awesome, massive tourist attraction right in the depths of the pandemic, then close it just before the country opens up so no one outside of Japan gets to see it!".

Fortunately they wound up extending it (twice) and finally closed it down last year, so people did actually get a chance to visit before it shut down.

The initial planning and construction began well before covid, and it was always planned to be a limited time attraction since the dock wasn't rated to hold the weight of the Gundam or supports indefinitely. It was more bad luck than anything.
