We all have those moments where were absolutely convinced something isnt for us, maybe a TV show, a hobby, a type of music, or even a person. But then, against all expectations, we end up loving it. For me, it was The Elder Scrolls games. I always thought I just wasnt into the fantasy genre. I could never get into The Lord of the Rings no matter how many times I tried. But one day, I gave Skyrim a shot, and before I knew it, I was completely hooked. That led me to go back and play Oblivion and even dabble a little in Morrowind (Reminds me, I still need to go back and play that properly). Now Ive sunk countless hours into exploring Tamriel. Whats something you were sure youd hate but ended up loving? ... Copied to Clipboard!

Fallout 4 And really it is my example for any other games I hesitate to try out. Ironically, I tried out Starfield thinking that I would dislike it and I do a bit, but there are great things in it as well: -> Heat leeches -> Terrormorphs -> Having Sarah and Andreja tagging along at the same time (they will stop and talk to each other) -> Departing in a ship (especially from Neon) -> It is the game where I learned what Tikka Marsala is; I am not joking about this. -> Cydonia's theme -> There is a character named after my favorite Saints Row homie (and she can be recruited!) ... They have their problems, there are things that are still broken in Skyrim despite the multitude of editions they released for the game, but I still have hundreds of hours into it. He replaced an announcer who was known for that on one of those older style game shows. Spotify. I continued to pay for albums from Google Play long into streaming's life because I've always been unhappy with the digitization of media. I use music in projects sometimes and I didn't like the idea of not having ownership or access to the actual files. I don't remember why I tried it in the first place, but holy hell, Spotify is the most amazing thing ever! Access to millions of songs from the entire world at any moment, curated to my preferences. I've listened to way more music than I ever did randomly browsing Youtube and buying what I like, and discovered way more than I ever could have. And I can still rip anything that isn't on Spotify and play it locally from the app, so there's really no downside. Also emojis I used to despise them and thought of them as a vapid degradation of human communication. "Just use your damn words!" But using Discord got me using them and it's actually pretty useful for when you don't have words for a particular situation but still want to convey a feeling or thought. Or even an acknowledgement. I'd never been big on using GIFs in forums like that either, but I've since become a meme machine with them. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Chris Pratt as Mario Although to be fair, I was never in the camp that thought Martinet should have voiced him in the film because 90 minutes of WAHOO is gonna be really annoying. Chris seemed a really odd choice, but he did a pretty decent job and he actually slowly became more of the Mario we're familiar with over the course of the film, which runs congruent with the plot. Fucking Charlie Day and Seth Rogan, though... Even more of a surprising fit in the final product. I legitimately busted out laughing when I heard the first announcement, though. ... The thing is, New Vegas was great in spite of it's reliance on Bethesda's engine and its short turnaround. There are a lot of criticisms that are legitimate because of how buggy it can be but I don't even think Obsidan was given a full year to develop the thing. And they still pulled off a really well themed and enjoyable game. Other criticisms I disagree with are valid though like creating a soft barrier with high leveled enemies railroading you down a specific path, but I feel this is really good design. It encourages people down a specific narrative route while everyone in the game is giving you context for why it's like this so it's not just thrown at you for no reason. And you can still make your way past that barrier if you know what you're doing, too. Open world games often suffer narratively because you can go anywhere and do anything at any pace, but this is a very good solution to that issue. ... Copied to Clipboard!

agreed. even in spite of the strategically placed deathclaws and cazadors, if you really want to go straight to new vegas it is entirely possible if you know what you're doing. i started a new run recently, found a stealth boy and pretty much immediately went north after goofing around in primm for a bit. they guide you along the story but they never make it impossible to go on your own path, and they even reward you with unique dialogue when you do this sort of thing. i love 4 but people acting like the story and writing in it (or 3 for that matter) are somehow better are absolutely delusional. the only thing holding NV back from being better than it already was was bethesda putting heavy constraints on obsidian. now both developers are mid as hell. it's tragic. ;-; --- http://i.imgur.com/ElACjJD.gifv "Most of the time, I have a whole lot more sperm inside me than most women do." - adjl ...
