And I'm a bit mixed on the alchemy from the video, but considering the entire last half was done on Auto I'll have to wait for the demo to really get a real impression on anything other than the UI.

Ill try it and see if I like it. But I also have Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition to play later this week. So, the earlier I can play the demo, the better.

I'm not sure about the battle system. I still don't really care for the weird halfway action systems mixed with too much visual clutter

They should either stick to traditional turn based or go full ARPG

Yes, though the series is a crafting one and not a farming one. While they have low key vibes like those, none of the Atelier games play anything like them.

It's pretty bad. Performance and whatnot is fine, but the alchemy is easily the worst in the series. And as mentioned the battle system also kind of sucks. Thus it's down to the story for the game to be any good, but with what we've seen (mixed with the knowledge of what series this is) it is very unlikely to be particularly compelling either. While it's possible that the gameplay will get a bit more compelling as the game continues, the core is quite a bit weaker than any other game in the series. First one that I really cannot recommend at all.

Which is a shame because this one probably had the biggest budget by a fair margin. The exploration is quite a bit more in-depth than the rest of the series, even if it's not all that crazy versus other modern games.

So it isn't just me? I think the battle system isn't fun, and I miss the "puzzly" alchemy. I read on Steam that some folks are getting soft locked during the tutorial, which is pretty bad this close to launch. I also wasn't a fan of the flow of the opening segment. Like, why is Yumia's atelier so far from the base? Why are there so few teleport points, especially with such uneven terrain?

This almost doesn't feel like an atelier game to me, and I've played every single one with an English release, with the exception of Mana Khemia 2 (if you want to count that).

Been playing this on PS5. I like the battle system tbh. Alchemy isn't the best here, but maybe I'll like it more over time

Though I should mention that I'm not really a hardcore Atelier guy. My only other exposure to the games is Sophie on the PS4

Without a doubt this game is going to be remembered for the lead's cullo rather than it's story or gameplay
