Watched some episodes of both shows and I liked the regular show more. In SVU,they make the cases feel too personal with the main casts and they focus on them more rather than the actual cases and suspects/victims. There's barely any Order or court room action in SVU which defeats the purpose of the show IMO.

Because Christopher Meloni is sexy

It's an easier watch compared to courtroom drama

Because the classic cast was together for a very long time and is arguably the best cast of any serial TV show ever.

I'm probably in the minority, but I thought SVU got better after he left. Especially in the later seasons, you could practically turn him beating up suspects into a drinking game.

I disagree. Ben Stone was likeable but McCoy was a stone cold bloodthirsty killer of an AD.

Your right. OG L&O cast got rotated out. A bit like real life. Cops retire, DAs get replaced or move on to other things. SVU has kept most of its in your words "classic cast". Sure you had some actors leave but its mostly the same.

I'll admit. I like OG L&O. Primary the Cop part. The years with Briscoe and Greene felt like real partners. So when Greenes actor was on the Flash it was hard not seeing Greene.

I'm watching True Blood and Meloni popped up and I simply can't see him as anything other than Stabler. Same thing happened when he randomly appeared in Man of Steel

I guess with me I care more about the stories than the actual cast. I like mystery, the investigation and the court action. The main cast is secondary

I find the SVU cases more interesting. They often went in a different direction than you think. Plus I liked the characters better.

The original series felt like every case was the same. And I never got attached to the cast.

The interrogation style and who they interrogated were similar in most episodes. Like 8/10 the person they're questioning is very fucking nonchalant about why they're being questioned by literal homicide detectives. If they're bartending or doing some other work they still keep working and won't stop and help the cops. And if they're not being nonchalant they're being combative.

I prefer the Original Law & Order (OG version) over SVU because SVU shifted its focus over the years. It stopped being about the crimes and became more about the cops personal drama, turning into a soap opera with some sex crimes thrown in.

Honestly, I can't stand most of the cast except for Ice-T, whos always solid. Stabler was an outright maniac, and Benson ruined some of the OG version too. One of the worst examples was when she tried to help someone get away with murder just because they had been abused by someone completely unrelated to the person they killed. That wasnt justice; that was emotional bias overriding the law.

Yeah I tapped out of the show right before Rollins left, because it just got too hard to follow anymore, especially when they kept switching out new people every few episodes.

There's an episode of SVU where the guy who played Beecher on Oz was a suspect. He and Stabler have a tense one on one scene, and all the fans who also watched Oz knew exactly what was up.

but at the end of the day its still pro police and insists the system works

that is why it was created to push this very specific agenda

SVU had the better plotlines and end games. Like the Robin Williams episode. There also was one where the guy got away with it but it ends with him getting stabbed to death at the police station. Stabler also regularly beat up the accused people while questioning them.

Regular Law and Order never did vigilante justice. They always tried having the court system take care of it.
