I can't believe I'm going through with this.....

Feels weird? A younger version of me would be in shock to know that I'm doing this.

Should this feel weird?

Almost everyone in my age group who is married or had been married and done with kids has had it done. Straight forward procedure and way less dangerous than for their wives. Nothing to feel weird about. Super common.

I mean, if you're really having second thoughts couldn't you freeze some samples just in case?

Congrats! It's ok to feel weird about it. It's a fairly big change in life but outside not having to worry about impregnating a woman, you'll have like a week of discomfort then everything will be back to normal.

Was this a planned decision that you've given a lot of thought to or more of a spur of the moment kind of thing?

Been thinking about it for about a year now. I don't want kids for a lot of reasons. Main one being that I like the peaceful life I have now, and I know I don't have the patience to take care of another human being.

I'm in a very similar boat, just haven't looked into getting a consult scheduled yet. I've never had a desire to father my own children. I'll date a single mom no problem. If your current/future partner and you want kids down the line after, there's always adoption too. Tons of kids out there could use a loving home.

On the one hand, you're doing the right thing. If you're done having kids, best not to bring more into this world. But on the other hand, smart people not having kids speeds up Idiocracy.

My brother got one and seems to have zero regrets about it. Seemed like the worst of it is just a bit of soreness for a few days and being told to not lift anything for a few weeks.

I had mine three years ago in anticipation of the reich killing Roe and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I have a lot of siblings and a big family in general, so I was expected to have kids but I never really wanted to be a parent. I occasionally had that yearning but it was only ever just a reflection of trauma and resentment towards my own parents. Resolving those issues removed any desire whatsoever to become a parent and I can't express the feeling of unburdening I got from it.

It's understandable to feel odd about it because it's a sensitive area, physically, mentally, and socially, but you have a couple of months to think about it and change your mind if you want. You can always reschedule it as well, assuming vasectomies aren't outlawed.

It's a quick and pretty painless procedure. Just sit back and relax for a couple days after and you should be good. Getting snipped after our second set of twins was the right call for us, and there have been zero downsides since related to that decision.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

I had one done after my second kid was born.

I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. Some discomfort in the week after, but literally days after the procedure my wife and I had a trip to Washington DC and we did a lot of walking and it barely bothered me at all.

If you are sure you do not want kids, you won't regret it.

Had mine about a year and a half ago. No regrets, and as most have mentioned its just a bit of discomfort for a few days to a week. Just be sure to ice up and take it easy especially at first, even if you feel ok, and youll be fine.

Hell yeah, brother. Same reason I got mine.

If you're worried about pain and shit, it's fine. Hardly anything after the initial numbing, and then some discomfort for a week or so, but not anything you probably can't handle.

If you're worried about societal issues, fuck 'em. I love seeing the smug look evaporate off someone's face when they ask me (40M) when I'm gonna have kids and I'm like, "nah, fam, got that shit snipped years ago."

Lastly, if you're with a steady partner, no need to worry about condoms dampening the sensation, nor her being on birth control that fucks with her hormones.

You got this!
