Some is good. Some lo-fi adjacent stuff is better. Most of it is basically the milquetoast elevator music of electronica. Indistinguishable, unremarkable, and forgettable.

Pretty good to study to but I'm not sure when else it would be appropriate.

I honestly can't tell about the fidelity most of the time.

I kinda like it musically though. I feel like I don't quite get it somehow but it still sounds nice and chill, which I guess is the point.

That's what makes it such good background music for when you're working. It all just blends together and never gets distracting.

I like it as background noise. It makes my wife feel nauseous.

I like some of it, but it's not a genre I go looking for when finding new music.

I miss 10-15 years ago when lofi was just music recorded on a tascam 4-track, now it's any slow-ish tempo music with a tape hiss or record crackling added onto it.

Its pretty good, I use it when Im doing stuff around the house like cleaning or yard work. Helps the work go faster.

It's fine, I like musical ambiance but I do feel like it can get really bland even dark ambience or some of the stuff the youtube they keep recommending to me. I still have a lo-fi Eminem songs in my likes. That was three or four years ago. I doubt that matters b/c they never suggest Em stuff to me.

IT depends because some ambience I found is great and then if it drags too much you just click skip. The Pool Rooms ambiance is really great. So many thoughts but yea.

Fucking, Billie Eilish made a nice mint on it even though the fist single I heard from her that my alternative rock radio was pushing sucked. She's fine but that first single was just obnoxious.

Lo fi used to refer to the recordings made by garage and punk bands. Even The White Stripes were lo fi for using small analogue studios.

Now it seems to be that AI generated, quasi-ambient, stuff with fake pops and crackles that streaming services use to clock up streams without having to pay any artists.

I don't hate it (it's too innocuous to hate by design), but I'd rather just choose some ambient myself.

I only like the chillhop raccoon.

I like it, its very tame and non invasive in a classroom setting to teach kids.. I cant say much else about it. Rhythmically, its very much just that one thing and my brain often desires more because Im a music fan.

The musical aesthetic (the production of the song, not the actual imagery produced or cultural clothing) behind it seems to have expanded to sections of nightcore remixes that I tend to be a bigger fan of. Elements of pitching up or speeding up the music along with that washed out, lo-fi kind of sound.

I recently went back to college and this obnoxious wave of lofi music youtube channels has been a Godsend. If I had to sit at home in pure silence while reading and studying for hours on end, I would go absolutely insane. It serves a very specific purpose and I love it for that.

Jazz is good too but sometimes it's just a little too awesome and I focus on it too much rather than what I'm reading.

I have no idea what lofi music actually is.

It's cool when I'm in the mood. It scratches that particular itch when you're in that kind of mood.

Then yeah. Love coming home from work, descending into my little office/work room tucked away in the far corner of the basement, clicking on the soft amber desk light, and just chilling to this type of music while tinkering.

What it means is the quality of the sound in terms of information theory. It's analogous to resolution and color depth for images. For wave-style uncompressed audio, you have a number of samples taken really close together in time and played back quickly so that it sounds like a continuous sound, kinda like with video.

(Bit) resolution: the number of potential levels representing a single sample.

Sampling rate: the number of samples per time.

Channels: the number of independent streams. Usually for stereo or surround sound effects.

I enjoy it, really peaceful.

Nothing against it, but I never really listen to it.
