Round Table is #1 for me, but it depends on the location as my local one is a lot better than some other stores I've been to. I also like a shit-ton of ingredients and they deliver on that:

Dominoe's and Pizza Hut, I haven't had a good pizza there in about 10 years now.

Mountain Mike's is like a not-as-good Round Table, but still very good.

Costco is dirt cheap and good for basic cheese and pepperoni. I rarely am excited to go get Costco pizza, but once it's in my hands it suddenly looks and smells a lot better than I was expecting.

It always amuses me that people calling something not just any fecal matter, but THE fecal matter, has somehow ended up a complement just from adding a "the" to it.

This crossed my mind when I mentioned "pic" next to the word "shit". Pretty unfortunate when discussing food.

I've never heard of Round Table. I could throw a rock in any direction by me and hit at least 5 non-chain pizza places so I don't really get the chain ones that much. I do like Pizza Hut for nostalgia reasons since I used to do Book It! in school but I don't get it very often. There actually is a sit down Pizza Hut near me though which I was surprised because every other one closed/changed to carry-out only.

Little Caesars

Even if Papa John's wasn't a garbage company, their pizza is awful and that's saying something because even mediocre pizza is still pizza but it can't even reach that level.

For national chains if you have access to a Godfathers they absolutely destroy a Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa Johns, Little Caesars type place. They arent as plentiful for stores but its still a national chain and revenue wise they are up there with Pizza Hut.

Not the ones they turned into express/mini market locations but full on stand alone Godfathers is to me the best national chain I have had.

I haven't had major chain pizza that isn't Little Caesars in a long donkey time.

I don't do Little Caesars anymore either because they're not $5 anymore and there's a 20 minute wait anyway. But some friends brought a couple of pizzas from them to our house a few weeks ago. It wasn't too bad but I'm gonna stick with my usual spot.

That's how much the x-large I ordered in the pic was, but that matches everywhere else around here except for the budget chains like Dominoe's and Costco.

Yup, their Maui Zaui is aces. I agree with your Mountain Mike's assessment as well.

Round Table Pizza is the main reason I miss living in California. Moreso than the family I still have there.

I'm serious. Don't tell them that.

I've never had Round Table but have heard good things about it over the years.

yea, Roundtable might be my favorite pizza chain, but it's pretty expensive related to other places.

Big fan of dominoes thin crust, regular crust is terrible.

Pizza Hutt is still pretty good when you haven't had it in a long time

Casey's gas station is likely my favorite chain.

the local pizza hut has been pretty good in my experience, haven't had any of the other chains recently and there's no mom-n-pop pizza shop anywhere around here

Looking at the map, they're all on the West side of the country (and the vast majority of them in California). There's not one anywhere close to Detroit.

Their crust is incredible. I live in NYC, surrounded by tons of great pizzerias, and yet I'll still crave Mellow Mushroom. Their "spring water dough" really has a unique taste and texture. I also love their Esperanza dressing as a dipping sauce.

I can only eat gluten free. I think round table has gluten free, and I know pizza but does. California Pizza kitchen is my go-to mainstream franchise for it.. Which I to like maybe 1 once a year. I eat at smaller local chains for gluten free

Is that a custom pizza or one of their specialty pizzas TC?

Mellow Mushroom has delicious chewy crust. I wouldn't say it's my favorite, but sometimes I'm just really in the mood for that crust.

Also never had Round Table, but idk it would be for me from the pic in the OP. All of my experiences with places that throw a ton of crisp veggies on top has been underwhelming. I like a greasier pizza overall

I forgot Mellow Mushroom. They're pretty decent.

My weird pizza opinion is that I like Hunt Brothers the best. It's gas station pizza, but it's still better than any other chain I've tried, which admittedly isn't very many.

It's definitely a good pizza for people like me who like it overloaded with toppings. I like plainer greasier pizzas too, but I get cheese and pepperoni at Costco a lot and sometimes an everything pizza just hits the spot.

When I was a 9 or 10, my mom took us to this exact same Round Table and I ordered the same pizza you're seeing here. My friends all thought it looked disgusting and I was embarrassed as hell. I greatly overestimated how much other kids like veggies when they just wanted a pepperoni pizza.

Half King Arthur Supreme and half Gourmet Veggie.

First flavor is red sauce and the other is white sauce.

The only chain Ive had in the last couple of years is Pizza 4Ps. Its good but I tend to get pizza from independent places.

Round Table is also my favorite. Its a family favorite restaurant usually have it once a month or two.

Round Table's Garlic Twists are literal crack to me

My favorite pizza place is a mom and pop called Zaucers in the Redmond WA area.

They had a specialty pizza called Ming the Merciless that was just loaded with sausage and jalapeno peppers. It's sounds gross, but oh my god it was heaven.

As far as chains go, Mellow Mushroom wins.

I've never heard of Mellow Mushroom. I'm down to try but it doesn't look like there's any near me in the Bay Area.

Interesting, what did you hate about Mountain Mike's? It's so wild how different peoples' opinions are, it has to be the location. The Round Table here is better than the one I used to frequent in Portland, as that one didn't have nearly the amount of toppings in my picture. And the worst pizza I've ever had was a Pizza Hut delivery to a hotel when I had no issue with Pizza Hut before.

Never heard of Round Table. These days I usually go to the Blaze Pizza that's not too far away from me.

I've never heard of Round Table either, but Marco's is really good as far as delivery pizza chains go.

They originated in Atlanta and have been slowly, slowly expanding outward to other parts of the country. If they make it to the west coast, it'll probably still take a while.

Their meat toppings are extremely mediocre (onions/mushrooms are fine), their sauce isnt good at all, and their bread/crust gets very soggy and gross. Its a perfect blend of mediocrity that borders on just straight up nastiness at times lol.

You know I might give them another chance tomorrow though since I work right next to one, Ive just been avoiding it for several months because of past bad experiences.

What kind of pizza do you usually get from Mountain Mikes? If its a specialty which do you go for?

Dominos is the best of the big 3 by far. Pizza Hut was better a decade ago when they had those crust flavors and interesting toppings but they gutted it all.

I cant remember the last time I had chain pizza. So it has to be 25+ years.

Snowy Alps is my go-to, which is a combination pizza with white sauce. I always get combination pizzas when given the choice because it's basically everything (meat and veggies) and I eat plain cheese and pepperoni plenty during Costco trips.

Mountain Mike's was my favorite as a kid. The one near me was like a movie-perfect pizza parlor from the 90s: dark like a dungeon, a massive widescreen CRT TV, and an incredible arcade that introduced me to Metal Slug and Street Fighter 2. Today, the inside of the same spot looks bright and soulless with no games.
