I've only seen the Netflix show which is only 1 season still. I'm not sure if it even adapted the entire first book but she betrayed humanity. She isn't someone to admire. I understand her motives and how she was feeling but she made the wrong move and put a cross hair on the entire planet

In her eyes, humanity betrayed her.

Yep.

If anything, life on other planets would just further demonstrate the glory of God.

The Mormon religion is literally based on the belief Yahweh was a normal guy on an alien planet with its own god that he worshiped until he himself became a god.

no, i don't want aliens to come kill us all.

but i do recognize the need for outside involvement if we are ever going to be rid of the MAGA cult from this country. once a fascist regime takes hold in a country, they don't ever just get voted out in the next cycle. and they are not going to just go away on their own. it's going to take coordinated military action from an allied coalition of forces. ideally in this case made up of the actual patriots in the military who are loyal to the country and constitution instead of Trump, allying with other western democracies such as those in NATO.

Yeah, but eventually she will be Ozymandias from Watchmen. She united the world against a greater threat.

As far as I'm aware, the Bible doesn't specifically say God *didn't* create aliens, so if forced with incontrovertible proof that non-human intelligence existed, the vast majority of abrahamic faiths would adapt, and I'm sure some would even find parts of the Bible, claim that they implied aliens existed and use that as further "proof" that their religion is true.

And if it turns out that the aliens have any cultural myths that even vaguely resemble Christian ones, all bets are off. If the Phlorpos from Planet Zug have a story that some great figure taught love and peace and then died to save his people then that'll just validate peoples beliefs even more >_>

But it's not an issue...like...at all lol.

The Bible already has non-human intelligence in the form of angels and demons. A lot of hardcore followers believe these entities are actively intervening in human society to this day, so pivoting to accepting aliens isn't a monumental task. Aliens being "superior" also means nothing (depending on what even you mean by superior lol). They're already conditioned to believe that they're among the weakest intelligent beings within their cosmology. Humans may be divine creations of God, but so is everything else according to them. >_>

You seem fixated on a very specific metatextual reading that the majority of religious people don't even think about, and then extrapolating that every single branch and denomination of the abrahamic faith would fall like dominoes. The vast majority of religious people would not really care after the initial shock of the revelation wore off. And the proportional few that would have more than enough ways to stick their head in the sand and deny reality.

For Christians who believe in aliens they usually talk about the line in the bible that says God has "other flocks." I don't know what Muslims think specifically, but back when I was a practicing Muslim I never thought aliens were a problem for my theology or anything.

Dude most people who believe in aliens are probably Christians statistically lol. There is nothing in Christianity that says humans are God's "best" creation, even if there was, people would just change the definition of what "best" means if extra-intelligent aliens showed up.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

No, the center point is God. Even if what you were saying was true, that doesn't mean God can't have more than one divine creation. You're trying really hard to invent a problem in Christian and Islamic theology where it doesn't exist.

My point is believing in aliens is perfectly compatible with Christian theology. It's just you having a hard time accepting it.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

So? There would be no religion or humanity if God did not exist. The purpose of Abrahamic religion is to worship God. It's not to deify humans.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Where does it say he can have just one? Back when I was a traditional Muslim I never believed humans were divine anyway, so I'm not even sure where you're getting that from.

the Abrahamic religions teach that the entirety of creation was made for humanity. they taught that Earth was the center of the universe until that was thoroughly debunked by science.

it is most certainly human-centric, and trying to deny that fact in the way you are doing is making you come off as really fucking weird.

I am agnostic towards the supernatural. That's irrelevant to this discussion as theists believe God created everything and we're talking about what their perspective would be. It's gaslighting to insist I'm angry after I've already told you simply that I'm not.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

No, it's a God-centric religion. No God, no humanity, no religion, nothing to worship.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

There is no reason for a Muslim or Christian to care about aliens existing. It would not shake anything, as it does not challenge anything in their scriptures.

christians hold a great many conflicting and cognitively dissonant beliefs. that doesn't make the Abrahamic religions not human-centric.

There is no cognitive dissonance here though since Christians don't believe anything that denies the existence of aliens. And I'd disagree the Abrahamic religions are human-centric because they teach the follower to sacrifice desire for moral principle. That's sacrifice of the self for God, which is inherently anti-human
