Like this 2025 set. It would have cost around 20-25 USD a couple years ago but it goes for 45.

Toys in general have skyrocketed since the 90s and have become more of an adult collector industry. I used to blame stuff like tiktok and Fortnite on kids not playing with toys like they used to but it's probably more the price.

They are, I just don't really see them on shelves anymore. But I ordered one of those a few years ago for my nephew.

Licensed legos cost more. I dont know about 25, but looks like a 34.99 set to me considering its SW.

10 cents per brick is pretty standard, and usually there is an additional ~$5-10 for each minifig after the second on small sets. So yeah this is high but not insanely so.

Ive avoided licensed LEGO sets this whole time. Castle, Pirates and Space were my favorites when I was growing up. It wasnt until my brother surprised me with the Mario Piranha Plant set this past Christmas that I finally built something that wasnt an original theme.

I unironically don't see the appeal of these super on rails lego sets whatsoever. Like at least with the basic blocks you can build whatever you want

I liked them because I'm not super great at the "build anything" aspect.

Like, if you give me too many options I get mad executive dysfunction, so working on something that's got structure to it helps.

Of course, I ain't dropping like 4 bills on one either, so it's a crapshoot.

Because theyre awesome.

I only display them now, of course, but kid-me would have LOVED actually playing with these

And I guess the whole not-having-a-creative-bone-in-my-body thing makes coming up with my own builds a moo point anyway.

My most recent LEGO purchase was The Great Wave of Kanagawa in July '23

I like it because it hangs on the wall and doesn't take up shelf space:

sometimes I feel like they use more small pieces just to charge more or something

I bought a couple small harry potter sets for my niece for christmas and didn't even realize they were $40 each until I got to the register, so I kept one for myself >_>
