Kero Quest 64 is a Collectathon 3D Platformer inspired by other games in the genre, especially those from the late 90s. You take control of Kero, a blue frog seeking to stop a prince from abusing his newly gained powers by collecting Magical Shards around the kingdom.

Overview

Kero Quest 64 is a Collectathon 3D Platformer inspired by other games in the genre, especially those from the late 90s. You take control of Kero, a blue frog seeking to stop a prince from abusing his newly gained powers by collecting Magical Shards around the kingdom.

A Big World

In this game, you must find your way through 20+ Open Levels, each with its own retro 3D aesthetic. On your quest to gain Magical Shards, you will collect various things such as Gold Coins and Costumes for Kero to wear.

I know first-hand game assets are hard to make but I wish so many of these N64 inspired games wouldnt literally use ugly ass N64 graphics

Well its the ugliest era of gaming and it just makes a game look bad imo

i love this kind of game and would be thrilled if this is good but right off the bat it just looks unappealing imo

as an aside I dont understand the Kickstarter for this. Sounds like they have a ton of game left to make and theyre a 4-person team asking for $20,000? Idk man, I would not have faith in this getting finished but Ill be there when it launches if its any good

Eh, I have fond memories of those graphics.
I find it more fun than ultra realistic graphics of modern gaming.

There is a wide gulf between ultra realistic and looking like N64 (lets be honest) shovelware.

Other than the paper thin line of grass, the graphics look good

Really does highlight how the pixel resurgence was entirely just a nostalgia trip instead of being because it was actually timeless with all the N64 lookalikes coming out.

I think the game looks pretty decent, certainly more appealing and accurate than the "spooky retro PS1 horror" games that make up most of the throwbacks to this generation. The level designer is a pretty big name in the Mario 64 romhacking community so he probably knows what he's doing. My only issue is that some of the animations seem kinda slow and stiff.

I just downloaded the demo and expected something hideous based on this posts. In fact, it looks charming and controls well!

Play Corn Kidz 64 for a game that is truer to the N64 vibe than any other game I've played. It's also an extremely good platformer.

I don't really have too much nostalgia for that era of platformer games but you know what?.....that actually does look like something it'd try. Like that clip looked more interesting to me compared to the yokaa layly (sp?) game.

why did they name the fucking frog Kero, that's like naming your cat character Gato.

now Frogger, that's a top-tier frog name
