The box says specifically not to do this, but I did it anyways lol cause I don't want to clean dishes. Anyways, I put them in at 400 for 20 minutes. They don't look very good but I'm more worried about them not being done. Do these good cooked to y'all?

If the inside looks cooked, you're fine. All that really matters with chicken is that all the meat is cooked through.

Seems like cleaning the air fryer would be harder than sticking these in the oven on a piece of aluminum foil.

Air flyers cook the same way as any fan oven. Just a bit quicker and using less electricity.

I think you cooked those for too long at too high a temperature. 350 for 12-15 minutes would have done it.

Alright, will do that next time. Thanks for the recommendation.

I cook frozen, breaded chicken in the air fryer all the time and I've never had an issue with it being undercooked. I agree with ai123, you cooked it at too high of a temperature for too long (it doesn't necessarily need to stay in for the full timer). My air fryer has a chicken setting, which sets the temperature to 370 and that gets a good cook. For me, 400 is the french fry setting and usually makes the chicken too crispy.

If you're going to be using that brand often, you just have to get a feel for how long it needs to cook. Get a meat thermometer and check it every now and then once you pass the 10 minute mark or so.

20m is way too long. I air fry chicken tenders at 400 for 8m in a toaster-oven-air-fryer, and they come out great. As said above, it's just a rebranding of convection oven.

If you're worried about fully cooking meat just get a thermometer and check it that way, I started using one regularly and haven't undercooked anything. Also helps to avoid overcooking

Thanks y'all for the feedback. Yeah, I was mainly scared about under cooking. Mainly cause I got food poisoning form Popeyes and I'm terrified of getting that again, especially since I have no insurance right now hehehe so I was being overly cautious. I did the 350 at 15min and they came out well enough.

I do 375 for 10 minutes. I also add a bit of cooking oil as well.

Don't think there's anything where I'm not adding some oil.

There can be quite the learning curve on these fryers.

It's best to keep notes on times and temperatures so you don't forget when finally getting something right.

Yeah, I totally get that. In my senior year of high school, my mom had bought some chicken and left it sitting out on the counter for hours. I reheated and ate some right before going to a school dance. That food poisoning hit me like a truck that night. I was extremely nauseous and it felt like the room was spinning.

Ever since then, I'm extremely cautious about eating any chicken that's been sitting at room temperature. I'd rather throw it away and waste food than experience that again.
