I think the looks are one of the few good things going for it. Looks more interesting than a boring, generic SUV boxes that most cars try to be these days. Then again, I like weird looking cars like this Duracell battery styled car:

Yeah I tend like unique styled vehicles and paint jobs. Doesnt have to be flashy though.

The Pontiac Aztec looks like they put the rear body of the Prius onto an SUV. And that still looks better than the Cybertrunk lol

If you can divorce it from Elon controversy and the very online hate bubble its just a regular car thats ugly/unique in a way that you can have fun with if you want to TC. People in real life have already stopped caring since theyre everywhere now.

That is false. It is explicitly not a regular car specifically so Elon doesn't have to pay for safety testing that is required for normal cars to be street legal.

6 recalls in a year

That sounds like a regular car. My 2010s honda had 6 recalls in about a month. It was in the shop for a faulty engine and the clock still cannot tell the correct time after 2 module recalls to fix it.

1 of the 6 recalls in your article is some of the text on the screen not being in the correct font. You dont have to pad the numbers like that. Cars suck enough.

Trains are just superior mode of transportation. A couple trains are easier to make right than millions of cars flawlessly.

If you like it, that's fine, but don't act like other people are wrong for finding it ugly.

I get it's a radical design and it wouldn't be everyone's cup 'o tea but the reactions people have to it are way over the top.

I think it looks dumb. I used to draw cooler cars in middle school with a ruler.

I think they look cool too. They remind me of something from like an 80s sci-fi. Like something out of Tron or Transformers.

I think it looks great but it is HUGE and the metal can rust amongst other things if you don't care for it. I'm all for futuristic looking tech!

The Cybertruck is "futuristic" in the sense that it looks like what someone from the 80's thought 2020 would look like

I was like you TC. Now that they're everywhere in the Bay Area they look samey and fugly. And the default stainless steel silver gets a brown tint to it very fast.

The matte black ones look good, but the novelty really wears off when they become common.

A recall is not the same as a warranty issue.

It would be cool if the rest of the world was 8 bit. But it isn't, so it isnt.

Its this companys guess of what will happen, but it also says

Tesla drops out of the top 25 in recalls when excluding OTA updates

So what youre citing shows Teslas arent noteworthy at all in terms of recalls.

They corrected for OTA updates because then it was just a list of the fancy new cars that continue to offer software updates.

That's how it works with Tesla, because they don't follow the traditional "model year" like other cars do. They just keep updating the same one.

There likely won't be a "V2" of the Cybertruck. It'll just be a case of... If you buy a Cybertruck in 2027, it'll be better than the one you bought in 2024, underneath it all, but it'll still otherwise be the same vehicle.

Which, on one hand, is handy, since you don't have to worry about your vehicle for sure being obsolete in a year. On the other hand, if it IS obsolete in a year, there's no like... Natural trade in/upgrade option. You're not going to easily be able to trade in/sell a '22 to go toward a '24. It's just... Cybertruck. And so, in practice, you just... Have an objectively worse Cybertruck.

You'll keep getting software updates, but if the '27 Cybertruck has new features your '24 is incapable of having, your version is just... Straight up obsolete, and there's no reason to have it over the newer one. There's no design/model change, like with other cars. It's the same thing, just... Worse.

Yeah the Toyota Crown is probably the best designed car in a while. Not so much the Toyota Crown Signia since the grille doesn't do it for me.

I also really like the newer Honda Accords. For some reason they give off some retro vibes

Yeah the changes Tesla makes to vehicles every few months add up to a lot after a couple years and then a v2 refresh happens every 4-5ish years like any other car company.

A good chunk of new features get brought to older models similar to iOS updates.
