Does your countrys' military do as much advertising as the U.S.? I have always been curious about this.

We get some recruitment ads in the UK.

Which strongly imply that it's all about operating cool tech and going out on the piss with your mates.

canadian here and I can't say I've ever really noticed significant military advertising. not to say it isn't there but it's certainly not super in-your-face or anything.

That said, in highschool when we do the history section on the world wars there's a lot of talk about how canada despite having a comparatively small army was actually important because like all our soldiers were super elites or something. I don't now how to describe it really it's not so much military glorification as it is like... this sort of "I was there too, look at me, look at me!" thing. still no idea how true/accurate it was

You'll sometimes see commercials on TV or ads on Youtube, but I don't think it's nearly as pervasive as in the U.S.

I can't recall ever seeing recruiters out in public or at schools. I'm not saying that doesn't happen, I've just never seen it.

*edit* post 6 reminded me that military advertising is definitely a thing here with pro sports. I didn't think about that at first because I'm not big into sports.

How would I, as someone outside the US, know how much the US military advertises itself to its citizens?

The answer is no.

I don't notice military advertisements in the US. Probably depends on what you watch and what sites you frequent. Maybe I am too much of a nerd and not enough of a sports fan.
