I can agree with that list. I'd switch a few in the S and A tiers but overall not too bad. I can't rank Tactics as I just couldn't get through it. I'm more of a fan of the Disgaea style of Tactics games.

3 is listed twice, in C and D

My list would quite similar to yours. Although I don't remember Mystic Quest being that bad. (But it's been a long ass time since I played it last.) I'd stick FF X at the bottom of B Tier as well. I still haven't played X-2 despite having it since I came out.

most of the list i agree more or less. FF9 i'd bump up to S. that and 10 are my favorites which you've never played 10 but played all the ones after?

tactics advance 1 and 2 are that bad? the first game isn't just a remake/port of the original? or was the remake/port tactics ogre on psp?

I'll be that guy but 2 and MQ are F tier? Otherwise eh I just ppl have opinions and I yea FFMQ is pointless in the grand scheme of things but calling it F tier is like calling a mobile game fulfilling. Not sure if that simile made my case but FFMQ does nothing wrong at all. It's straight forward and easy but tells a simple story and the music kicks so much ass. No way that game isn't at least C tier in my list.

For me the ones I've beaten or put a decent amount of time in.

I have it ready to go. Picked up 7,8,9 and 12 zodiac age on the switch so will hit 9 eventually.

my guess is TC is judging gameplay, not story. Only reason I can think of why 14 is so low.

2 actually has a story! People die FR real. Unlike FF1 where it's like hey pick your classes and get the crystals and spoilers Man time travel back then, I know 7th Saga did it to worse results. But WTF Chaos time traveled so they time traveled back to kill him for good, I think.

I think I respect V more than IV now. But eh I just grew up playing IV more and I am kinda sick of it. V is still that Final Fantasy you play just to have fun with the job system. V barely had a story. Which that's fine. I just yeah never got attached to V lol it's like how Dragon Quest 3 has some story but it's not party driven.

It got better every installment until 1 was better than 2.

FF got better with IV/V/six. Sex! FR. VII is a very good game. I just don't like slander against Mystic Quest. Benjamin did the best he could also ties into the SaGa series.

hol'up... guna need some rationale on your placement of FFTA Vs. FFTA 2. You can tier them in either order, but FFTA 2 is far far better than FFTA

S Tier;
Final Fantasy 4 (I loved this game a lot. Probably the best soundtrack from beginning to end in the series. The game felt new and connected with Kain being an anti-hero really. It was unique for a game at that time. And it just felt like it had a nice flow.)
Final Fantasy 5 (People shit on this game but I loooooove class systems. And I know people hate on Exdeath but I think he's cool. Plus, Home Sweet Home, Exdeath's Theme and of course BOTBB are all banger songs)
Final Fantasy 6 (Classic. Less customizable than 5 but a huge palette of characters to choose from, so it is like classes either way. Plus, best overworld theme in the series)

A Tier;
Final Fantasy 8 (I was so hooked on this one's music, map, and just fun things to explore. Games that offer reasons to chart off course are a win for me)
Final Fantasy 7 (It's good but I don't like the military theme. And it's really overly hyped to me.)
Final Fantasy 12 (It was a lot less linear than 10, so I liked it more)

B Tier;
Final Fantasy 10 (Too linear but fun still. Linearity kills games for me. Alot.)

C Tier;
Final Fantasy 3 (If I tried it again, I'd probably rank it higher. I don't remember it great.)

D Tier;
Final Fantasy 1 (Bored me)

F Tier;
Final Fantasy 2 (Bored me)

I see an opinion like this and I know the person holding it didn't get into rpgs until the PS2. Sentimentality is the only reason to hold such mediocrity in high esteem.

S Tier is objectively right by TC good job, I'm sick and tired of FFT getting less appreciation as time goes on.

The rest of the list is pretty good also.

I dunno, enough people have such misplaced hatred for Tactics Advance that they'd put the absolute dumpster fire filled with burning dogshit that is Tactics Advance 2 over it out of spite, so it's refreshing to see those listed in (what I would deem to be) the correct rankings.

I just finished 2 recently and where it really fell flat for me was gameplay. Having to go back and forth to the starting town for more than 60% of the game and having to spend most of that with a very frequent encounter rate beating shit tier starting enemies over the head for half those trips made it feel pretty terrible.

We really need another game like V where you just get all the jobs at the beginning. Bravely Default did a nice attempt but they drip feed them to you. Not like FFV. Closest thing to FFV is Final Fantasy Dimensions which really needs a fuckin PC port already holy fuckin shit what the fuck is wrong with you Square Enix?

I would still rank FF2 probably low but I had to stick up for FFMQ. It's at worse an average game with incredible music. I did like FF2 on Final Fantasy Origins.

X - The remaster, late game stuff is stupid grindy but I love that.
9 - Like old school FF but actually fun with a good story.
6 - When they first really started to put it all together.
5 - Starting to get there.
2 - Love how easy it is to break this game early. But beyond that, meh.
1,3,4 - I find them all to be slogs, I bet Id have loved them if I played when they were new.

8 - I hate that draw / junction stuff and HATE how enemies level with you. Also, amnesia! Give me a break.

If FFD was released on the Super Nintendo no one would have been able to tell that the game was designed as a mobile game.

Well I probably shouldn't have said some things about FF2 but I mean well. I am digging myself a bigger hole but some ppl haven't played the older games, so I felt that was worthy of a spoiler tag for FF1. FFIV is notorious for yea I am going to blow this up with a bomb. Appreciate my sacrifice and then. Oh all he needed was some rest after that.
