What happened to FSU was dumb and shouldn't become a precedent. Besides, the precedent being set there was "if we can justify putting Bama in, we will," and that's being followed this year, too...!

Again I'm fine with giving the benefit of the doubt if you played a close game. The Ole Miss game wasn't close and you can't just ignore it because South Carolina is playing better now.

I've seen people use the "yeah but if they played now it'd be different" argument, but they didn't play now. They played in October, and that has to mean something.

Im just sayung Id rather see Lanorris Sellers than this shell of a bama team is all.

Speaking of Bama, I read one of those "blind resume" things.

I picked out which resume belongs to which team easily enough, but it's... Honestly not comparable. If you subscribe to overall "body of work" rather than the "right now eye test", Alabama absolutely deserves to be 12 over Miami and the other two SEC teams.

The actual mistake is, as I said from the start, having Miami ahead of either Ole Miss or South Carolina.

If all you care about are Alabama's wins, they've got the best ones (although Ole Miss beat Georgia and South Carolina more decisively)

It just requires you to ignore how terrible the Vandy and Oklahoma losses are

I mean, this is my argument for South Carolina. They have the least embarrassing losses on their schedule while not having a weak schedule.

(Although Oklahoma is actually good. Check out THEIR schedule. Insane)

Oklahoma can be better than their record (their defense is really good, their offense is really not), but it's more that Alabama was thoroughly dominated

No playoff team has as lopsided of a loss as that one

A 5 point loss at Vanderbilt really isn't that bad at all. Vanderbilt was competitive in almost every game this season and came close to knocking off Texas, Missouri, and LSU.

It doesn't belong in the same strata as the Oklahoma loss, who were noncompetitive against most of their SEC schedule, getting blown out by the aforementioned Texas and LSU, and losing to Missouri by 4 more than Vandy did.

Sure they're both 6-6 but one's a very obviously better 6-6 and it was a narrow road loss. It's the blowout Oklahoma loss that was completely inexcusable. I don't think the Vandy loss is costing them a significant amount. I don't really think it should, either.

Again, you can argue Vandy isn't that bad (and they aren't), but that loss wasn't a fluke. Bama was outplayed and deserved to lose.

You can argue Alabama has the highest ceiling of these fringe playoff teams (the Georgia and LSU wins are undeniably impressive), but they also have the lowest floor.

The first good defense that can contain Milroe and force him to be a pocket passer will beat them.

Milroe is 100% Bama's achilles heel and is why they will not win the title. No one's going to disagree with that. Objectively speaking though, they do have the best resume.

I just wish they didn't!

You don't even need a "good defense" to contain Milroe. The guy will start fucking it up on his own eventually, the key is you just need to be able to capitalize on it. Alabama has a good chance of getting Notre Dame and Boise State (I assume they'll be 7.5+ point favorites over both) and an "easy" walk to the semis... But I think they're more likely to lose to one of those teams because of Milroe than they are to win their semifinal game.

If I have any one big question though, it's that I still want to know how Notre Dame lost at home to the 7th place team in the MAC.

UNLV's kicker doinks a 47 yard field goal off the crossbar and no good.

For the first time in a long time they look like a team that's actually worthy of being in the postseason instead of just "Because it's Notre Dame". They're not a title contender, but I would say they've actually earned this spot.

It's going to take better defense than what they showed against USC to beat Alabama though. USC's yards per catch were ridiculous because of how little any of their receivers were actually covered.

But seriously, "lost to 7th place team in MAC" is just really hard to forget.

Is Oklahoma State's season this year lowkey one of the biggest disasters of all time? The conference, without any of its heavy hitters, should have been wide open for them this year, this was a really good opportunity for them, they were ranked as high as #14 with a big opportunity to jump into the top 10 if they could beat #12 Utah (also hilarious), and they failed to win even a single conference game. They failed to win a conference game in a year where the big 12 was soft.

Yeah they were supposed to be the "big move" Instead they turned into the thing that kept BYU out of the conference title game. The final tiebreaker was in-conference SOS between them and Iowa State. They lost because they played Oklahoma State and their 0-9 conference schedule. Iowa State didn't.

Also barring a second half collapse, Boise looks to have already put this game, and their first round bye, to bed.

And Army is continuing to prove that Tulane being ranked at all was a terrible mistake.

Gundy called out poor Cowboy fans at one point, and while obviously hard to prove, Ive heard that donations to NIL, football, and the school itself took a nose dive after that.

Vandy was much more competitive, but my dumb fact is that OU and Vandy went 4-0 against the state of Alabama and 1-11 against the rest of the SEC and I feel like that should hurt Bama

The only team Vandy scored more points against than Alabama was their FCS opponent

(They also lost to Georgia State)

They'd have a quality win over Miami, which should help their case

There was a punt return that ended in a fumble for a Miami recovery. The play was under review, because a blindside block from Miami caused the foul to call the play back. And now it's in review again

Think the question is do they jump them above Bama based on conference championship

I didn't think I'd miss much but I also didn't think it'd end by 26.

With a first round opponent of Penn State or Notre Dame they could make some noise.

An actual argument to have them jump Bama might exist to begin with given the beatdown they just put on Iowa State
