this is the most god awful art direction Ive seen for DBZ antagonists. You have a whole gallery of sick looking villains: Frieza, Brolly, cooler, Cell, the androids, Buu.

then you have toppo looking like dr egg man from sonic. And Jiren looking like some Star Trek alien.

What the fuck were they thinking.

Yeah you called them antagonist and then compared them to the villains.

But its kind of intentional design wise. Jiren is pretty much meant to be the stereotypical bland, overpowered hero.

basic boring, tragic backstory, who seek strength for the sake of strength alone.

Fun fact: Jiren was originally going to have Toppo's personality when Toei got to the Tournament of Power before the manga, but Toriyama corrected them.

It's weird imagining Jiren hamming it up about justice like Toppo does.

That's basically the point of Jiren's design. Generic Grey alien superhero. And hey it's still better than how all of the super saiyans have pretty much the same damn face

Toppo is pretty awesome and was one of my favorite tournament power characters. The way this big ass dude just came out of nowhere posing kills me.

Also the way he just thrashes frieza, calls him trash and takes that ego down a peg was amazing.

Jiren though? Yeah, he is eh' I know they were just going for a big buff grey alien thing and he definitely did that, but there was many more cooler designs.

To be honest I really liked that dude bergamo's design (blue wolf dude/leader of the trio de dangers). Sucked they had to job out and be the first to get booted though.
