It was shockingly amazing. I knew very little about it going in, and was only really expecting a bog-standard "subvert the genre/gorefest" style VN with no real substance outside of shock value.

I was so wrong. This game was amazing, and I'm completely hooked. I'm going through secrets, and trying to unlock all the scenes. Spouse and I were completely blown away by this game.

It has literally hundreds of mods, which really help satisfying that need to see all the club members get the good ending they all deserve, in so many different ways.

Concerning the additional content, I don't really pay much mind to the e-mails, but I absolutely love the side stories. In my headcanon, they take place before Monika's epiphany and we see a side of her where she legitimately cared about the other girls. Amazing CG art too.

ikr? game's legitimately amazing. my experience with its subgenre of Vns is that they lean in way too hard to being self aware and ironic about the games being VNs, but DDLC's willing to take itself dead serious whilst still building up its characters and subverting the tropes it wants to, and it just works so well

Good to know: every mod requires a (clean) install of the base DDLC game (the one from the official site ddlc.moe , not Steam, that has been known to cause problems). I highly recommend you start with the mod Blue Skies. It's quite therapeutic and has some fulfilling routes that have the potential of getting the girls the help and love they sorely need (although sadly it doesn't have a Monika route).

Depending on who is your favorite and what kind of stuff you like about DDLC, I can also recommed other mods if you like.

Just copy pasting some stuff:

You get a "golden ending" of sorts by getting all the CGs in one run. To do that you need to keep a save before the first poem night and aim for all the poems by getting all their choices then loading the save and aiming for the other two. Once you get all the CGs in Act 1 you're good to go and nothing you do in Act 2 affects the ending.

There's a ton of random events throughout Act 2 though.

Vinny managed to get it in his playthrough.

If you went for Yuri in the first route's Act 2 you should go for Natsuki this time and vice versa. There's some exclusive content for each but they don't affect the ending.
