Like ~30 of them, if even that, post on Poll of the Day on GameFAQs?

We're nearly one in a billion, folks.

I can't say there's ever been anything impressive about GameFAQs.

The ASCII art in guides was pretty impressive.

People that made guides didn't have to put that much effort in, but they did. They did that for us.

I do, I think about that. I hate to think it, but I think if you wiped my memory I'd find this place again. If I have an unknown identical twin he's probably on this board.

I definitely came here to discuss the poll of the day, realized we don't do that here, and stayed anyway for no reason at all.

It's like we're all the way on the loser end of the loser/nerd spectrum where we're not nerdy enough to care about staying on topic.

I suspect you wouldn't. These days there's very little reason to come here at all. If you're not already here, you'd probably just wind up on Reddit instead.

I've had the same exact rant almost word for word 2 years apart, in two completely different mental states and life situations. It had to be pointed out to me because they found it so eerie that I would say the same exact thing every time given the same prompt. I think I even made the same exact jokes.

But you're right, maybe not now, because I was first drawn to the site because of the video game boards that actually weren't dead. But a twin of mine would be the same age.

I left this place seven years ago or so, but I came back recently because to be honest, it's nice to have a place where I can talk to a few strangers about anything and everything. Can't do that anywhere else. Discord, Reddit, Youtube, etc. all have individual niches that the conversations always filter into.

You what will really blow your mind? How many people have ever lived. Just think we have people in their 90's and people just born. Everyone has parents, those parents had parents so on and so on

This is why I don't understand how graveyards just don't get overfilled. Everyone dies and will continue to die. Where do all those people go? It's not like those plots get reused.

For extra funsies, now think about how many of those people were born recently.

Estimates are that the total number of people who have ever lived is somewhere around 100 billion (give or take a few billion). So 8% of the total humans who have ever lived are alive today. Half of all humans who have ever lived lived within the last 2000 years.

a lot of people get cremated now because burials are stupid expensive theyre really only for the wealthy now

but yeah after 5-8 decades or so its not uncommon for graveyards to do what they need to do to move remains or do whatever they need to do to manage things

You see, this is always the response I get when I ask this question. People just shrug and say, "Well, there's cremation." Sure, but there's also billions of people on this planet. You cremate a billion of them and there's still going to be billions of grave plots to fill. And you can still have your cremated remains buried if you've reserved a plot. Grave plots take up a lot of space and I really don't ever see graveyards expanding. Do they actually dig up and dispose of old remains after a certain period of time?

I've always assumed that, barring truly famous people, by the time the gravestone is worn down to the point of being illegible or broken there's really no one left alive who still remembers anyone who even knew the deceased, so there's really no reason not to reuse those plots. Hell if the person was cremated and put in one of those little metal tins you don't even need to dig the old one up. Just bury another box in the same spot. Plenty of space.
