Yeah, I never understood that idea. Whenever I hear "he's just like me..." it immediately makes me follow up with "...and you'd be fucking shit at the job of President, too. That's not a positive."

Some people think making shit up and lying is funny as a joke and are always saying "I'm just riffing. I'm just messing with you". They somehow think Trump is the exact same and he's just making stuff up for entertainment sometimes, and he doesn't use big words that make them feel insulted for being dumb and not picking up a book or reading an encyclopedia.

Trump speaks at the reading level of most of America, which is pretty low. But in addition to this, he says what they want to hear in a way that makes sense to them. he puts himself down on their level and agrees, yes the illegals are hurting us, etc.

it's all partially deliberate. He isn't an intelligent speaker, but this works because he base aren't intelligent listeners.

The Democrats problem is talking about 3.25% inflation and 2.89% unemployment rates. The average person might only be able to hear "paycheck. small. trump make paycheck big"

Stupidity resonates with stupidity. It's like a perfect storm, churning, growing. Before you know it you have stupidity in a position of power, and that's truly scary

When you're a moron, you can be completely confident in saying literally anything and feel no shame about it. When you're smart, you hold yourself to standards and that limits your options. The people who get ahead are the people that have options others don't.
