Yeah, and we'd have no domestically produced oil. We also wouldn't produce enough of our own food. And the breakoff America would be non-coterminous. Illinois would be surrounded by a foreign country. Illinois is one of our top shipping hub states. That would be devastating for all sides.

The only real hope we have is that the fucker wastes so much time playing golf that he doesnt actually accomplish anything.

the end-state capitalistic dystopia we have been in for decades is fundamentally incompatible with the stated goals of the incoming Trump administration. So whatever damage is inflicted, while likely painful, is unlikely to be particularly lasting (besides the damage to the judiciary, that's lasting forever probably because muh checks and balances and propriety and fucking hell it should not have to be -difficult- to avoid a packed court but god forbid a democrat get perceived as not willing to compromise)

Still going to massively suck for infrastructure, medical, primary education, and any civil liberties that can't just be paid lip service and/or are remotely capable of being auctioned off for 3.50$ and a piece of chewing gum, but it avoids the worst scenario by a hair.

I'm abandoning ship and already am making the rounds to getting it to happen. I have no kids, no house, no car, I have saved up funds, learned some Japanese, have a Tokyo based office, and my IT guy and my Supervisor even prefer my Tokyo or Dublin office if I were to move.

After the other night, I might as well say it. I hate this country. Is Japan perfect? No, but I'd rather be hated in quiet opposed to hated loudly with a gun.
