Not a sports guy. Don't have anything against them though and I get why people like them. Even I can sort of watch a game and get into a little bit if I'm over at someone's house and they're watching it.

People who take it way to seriously and who get super loud and obnoxious (and aren't at the actual game) and/or even fight and kill people over sports are nutcases. Same for those who question the manhood, sexuality, and toughness of those who don't like sports.

Only on gamefaqs would you get this many negative responses on being passionate about sports LOL. I won't theorize why that could be :)

Playing a team sport at least once should be mandatory in high school tbh. There are WAY too many people in the USA missing out on important life lessons. And getting too out of shape as well.

What important life lessons can one get from playing a sport and absolutely nowhere else?

Utter drivel.

My parents are wonderful, and I still get upset when my team loses. Why would I shift the blame for my passions on to them?

are you a grade schooler maybe?

sure in teens and adulthood, fine, but instilling an us vs them attitude in children and the subsequent traumas they're forced to endure when their team loses is horrendous parenting.

Exactly!

The fact you aren't super excited for curling and shuffleboard...

Hmmm.

No, but I have been.

It's a horrendous (not to say ludicrous) stretch from letting your kids get emotional over their favourite football team to 'forcing' them to 'endure trauma'. You're upset for a bit, you might shed a few tears. But you pick yourself up and go again next week.

Any sports fan will tell you: there's always next season.

I don't get passionate when watching sports because I'm a Falcons fan and a Georgia sports fan, in general.

No sports ain't for everyone. I pushed myself to play them. But it was a inner desire to be apart of something bigger than myself. To be part of a group. not everyone cares about such things.

Not gonna lie though all my bullies being on the football team helped my motivation. They all played offense. I chose defense. I got to take shots at them everyday after school consequence free. In the end we never became friends but I had earned their respect.

It's totally fine if you aren't into sports. Just like it's fine for people to not be into any given hobby.

The key is to not be a prick about it. It's fine to be passionate about a hobby. It's fine to not be passionate about a hobby. What is basically always not fine is being passionate about not be into something. Those people are almost always assholes.

Only on Gamefaqs could a thread clearly meant to demean and shame those who don't get passionate about sports turn into a demonization of those who defend themselves for not getting passionate for sports because they have no interest in it.

Those negative posts wouldn't exist if TC didn't make a thread clearly meant to call out and demean them.

But fuck them for standing up for themselves, amirite?
