I smashed my laptop after a particularly bad MW3 session waaaay back in its day. The game had a great way to detect when I wasn't having fun and spawn killing me, usually multiple times in a row. Tbf, the thing was on its death bed, but obviously, it's not something I'm very proud of doing.

i've literally never broken anything or attacked any of my own hardware during a game. i've given a shitty controller a fire funeral however. my brother used to throw the NES controller at the tv and there were chips on the screen so it was like multipuck trying to watch hockey.

No damage. The only time Id ever get actually annoyed/mad was in my NES days when I was in junior high. And even then the most Id do is cuss a bit and then shut it off out of frustration to take a break because I was playing worse while mad.

But that was when I was like 12/13 years old. I give myself a pass for being a kid. That was a long time ago and the only time I ever would let a game wind me up.

I've flipped a controller out of exasperation. Not a throw or a slam but an "I'm done with this" toss.

That's it. I had a fairly volatile temper when I was a kid, but I never broke anything over a video game. Damn sure haven't as an adult.

I'm not proud to admit it but I've destroyed some GameCube controllers because of Smash Wii U (those goddam forced 8 player FFAs in Classic mode where the majority of the CPUs single you out over one another) but in my defense, I was not in a good state of mind at the time.

People thought I was raging when we used to play Melee during lunch in high school but my foot legit got tangled in a controller cord and it yanked down the dude's Gamecube onto the floor. Other than that there has been zero damage because I'm not stunted enough to actually rage over a videogame

i don't think it's healthy to act like you never get mad or to treat anger as something you should never experience. i think people need to face and figure out their anger.

Yeah, I did, but that doesnt make the reaction any more proportionate. Saying that you have anger issues, while it might be true, doesnt absolve you of any of the consequences of the actions that were done in anger.

I never broke or damaged a single video game related thing I personally owned.

  1. Growing up my household didn't get too many games to own over the years (the vast majority of the games my family played was via weekend video game rentals)....my brother and I had enough common sense to know that no replacements would be coming if we ever intentionally broke a video game or the controllers we used. We tried our best to make all our gaming accesories and games last as long as possible......this was mad hard for the extra 3 N64 controllers I bought out of my own money since the N64 analog sticks was so flimsy. I had to keep telling my friends, nephews and nieces not to go too hard on those sticks when we played the rotation mario party stuff.
This mentality carried over into my adulthood where I still try to be careful with my stuff......even more so since replacement controllers nowadays is like what, 74.99 or something like that.

  1. My parents wasn't playing that kind of bull-shit for shitty behavior in general. I grew up in the 80s and early 90s....ass whippings was still very much in-fashion.
My older brother hilariously broke his copy of NFL 2K1 in half. He was grown by the time the dreamcast was a thing and since that is a game he bought with his own money it was fair game to bust up.

The AI in NFL 2K1 on the dreamcast was notorious for being cheap as hell if you played on the harder difficulties and the A.I. can basically do anything it wanted to keep a close game score during season play. Bro lost one of his season games at the last second via the CPU going juggernaut (straight up shrugged off+stiff armed the entire defensive line) and becoming unstoppable during a return for the touchdown win.

Bro took the disc out of the dreamcast and slammed it as hard as he could into the bed......just snapped cleanly in two. We both lmao'd about it. The dreamcast 2K sports games were cheap as hell in general (like 20 dollars brand new) and so he ended up buying a new 1 a week later or something like that.

When I died/failed/did poorly in a game on my gameboy, I would hit the screen on my head in some kind of anger/rage. Not ever very hard, but one day I did it and the screen broke.....
