Really looking forward to this.

Dragon Quest is a franchise that I've been itching to play more of (or at least the mainline games) but I've only gotten to play 7, 8 and 11 because I'm limited to only the games that were on Playstation.

I still have the original players guide book that came with the original nes game, and I still use it every time I play this game. Gonna use it here too.

DQ 3 and 4 just hit so different than all the other ones imo, especially the new games. Just something about that older sweet spot. So simple yet so satisfying.

Might be because the story segments are so quick and fast compared to the newer games.

I heard that if you play 3 then 1 and 2, at the end of 2, you get a special ending. Thats the proper chronological order of the games since 3 is a prequel to 1 and 2

Thats what the devs say, but still odd choice. The whole point of 3 is by the end you realize who you are playing as. Wonder what they will change to make it better to play 3, 1, 2.

Unless you were spoiled ahead of time (eg, Nintendo Power or the packed in hint guide) there was no obvious tie in DQ3 to the other two games until you got to the Dark World, and THEN suddenly everything started making sense.

Of course, now DQ3 being the legendary game that it is, it's also tied to a few of the subsequent games, too.

Looks gorgeous and should be a blueprint on how to handle games from this era. Too bad Suikoden I and II doesnt look nearly as well handled as this to me. It deserves it.

4, 5 and 6 will probably come sooner or later. Especially 5. Isn't 5 the other beloved game besides 3? I think I always heard that in Japan, they consider 3 and 5 the two best in the series

yeah same. the scale of the characters/monsters feels way off to me personally, they're too small for my liking. also diagonal movement looks really awkward since there's no dedicated diagonal sprite

but the rest of the game looks so peak

I've played (and enjoyed) DQ IV, V, VI and IX on DS, DQ VIII on PS2 and currently playing DQ XI S on PC.

I hope this DQ III remake will get a PC release too.
