Republicans have been trying to gaslight the country about what we all saw that day. I really don't know how people like Erin Smith find the level of restraint required to be sitting in the same room as a capitol rioter who attacked her husband that day when her husband got a traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures.

The apologies from Dana Bell... just... meaningless, imo. Capitol police officers and their families have had to live with that trauma for years now. And all of the bullshit from Republicans is likely making that so much worse for them. The light sentences are getting old, but at least she'll be in prison during this election.

I've been on the bad end of the "actions speak louder than words" and "you're only sorry because you faced consequences" lines. It's taken a lot of introspection to realize that the people who said that were right. Real remorse requires full acceptance of your actions and what they caused as well as the recognition that there may be nothing you can do to make things better. Surface level apologies are simply worthless.

Yeah, something like this is quite literally unprecedented. On top of public interest, you also have attorneys and others folks with legal experience who know they're going to be fielding questions from friends and family.

and even beyond that, i love to see these examples of how documents can be redacted and published because that's a nuts and bolts problem that i have to deal with frequently in federal court cases. so there's the rubbernecking attorneys looking to burnish their redaction technique a little

What file format? Is it a PDF where the redacted stuff is blacked out when viewed but still available within the file somewhere?

A lot of the pages in the first volume are marked "SEALED." Unredacted pages include deposition transcripts related to the select committee's investigation.

Edit: Many names are redacted, but context clues make identification relatively straightforward.
