I say this with all sincerity: I was a public defender for six years, and cross examination was the only part of the job I liked. For exactly the reason you describe. When you lay a trap and it works, it is a rush like no other. Of course, the deck is stacked against the PD in most cases, so more often it is your client getting trapped.

I still get to do cross every once in a while during admin hearings or appellate evidentiary hearings, but it isnt the same!

To be fair, Harris didn't go into specifics about anything. She wouldn't even be pinned down on her positions, instead she'd say stuff like "My values haven't changed." Which, considering her "values" included what she did as a prosecutor, is a bit troubling.

I know some friends who are extremely hardcore republicans. They LOVE Trump and the only person they love more is Desantis.

I don't like politics in general, but I have a little experience with debating since I am an attorney. Not in the professional world, but during my law school career.

In my professional, not political opinion, she killed him. My friends are gonna spin this to say that he destroyed her, but realists have to realize that it was brutal.

It's become increasingly clear the bullet never made contact with him. A 5.56 would do far more damage to any part of the body it made contact with and the blood splatter on his face going the wrong direction are two major indications, along with him not needing major surgery the day of, attending his golf course the same day, his own sons saying he didn't need surgery, and wearing that kotex pad at the RNC to play the victim.

Most of us do understand how we got to the point being discussed. I know she's not talking down but it could rub some the wrong way.

Considering a significant amount of the population thinks Biden is responsible for Roe being overturned because he was POTUS when it happened, I think you severely overestimate the informed levels of the general electorate and how long they retain information.

Especially since the media doesn't talk about most of these issues, which is why Harris bringing up Trump's greatest hits of failures both as POTUS and as a human being was great, because we can't count on our media to do it.

For example, the biggest surprise of the night was them questioning him on Jan 6th considering they've stopped covering it or discussing it as if it no longer matters.

So anyone seeing the media declare Trump the winner? All Im seeing from normal news outlets is positive reporting on Kamalas performance. But to listen to this board the headlines should have read Trump looks poised and Presidential as he confronts Kamala about the cat eating crisis. Or at least Trump made to look like a fool, this is bad for Democrats in November.

The closest thing I can find to this are polls on far right websites where readers vote who won and they still only manage to scrape together 73% of die hard Republican voters saying he won. I'm not even sure those voters really believe that, but in order to prevent their fragile world from shattering it needs to be true.

You think Muir and Davis had fact checks ready for some other Trump lies? Like transgender surgeries done in class rooms or sharks and batteries or bacon and solar power.

You can tell an awful lot about a person by the way they argue, and from where I was sitting, Trump was utterly obliterated by Harris. He came off more childish than ever against someone as put together as Harris.

The best example of this came when both candidates were asked about what they would do with Israel/Palestine. Harris directly answered the question, proposing a cease fire deal and getting hostages out, backing Israel and insisting on a two-state solution.

Trump immediately deflects like a child with "if I were president it would have never started", completely avoiding the question. (He used this tactic multiple times during the debate: "I don't have to answer because it's not a possibility." [paraphrased]) He says that because he knows Putin, this would've prevented the Ukraine conflict as well. Then he attacks Harris by saying she hates Israel, Jews and Arabs, and he brags about being good at predictions and that he hopes he's wrong that Israel will be gone in 2 years if she's elected. All he does is make personal attacks, use scare tactics (talking about explosions, shit blowing up, millions dying, millions of criminals immigrating), and smoke and mirrors.

Harris is absolutely right, all he does is try to divide and put others down rather than lift others up.

My favorite part was when she straight up predicted he would deflect to immigration without prompting and he did it 8 times.
