It was very poorly defined and had a lot of inconsistent moderations. Mods would pop up and give a very reasonable take on what constituted hornyposting, then someone would get hit for dumb shit that shouldn't count. It's gotten a lot better in that respect over time though.

I will say, that I wish things could be more PG-13 and less PG

Why does it matter to you if it's brought here? Don't enter the topic if you don't want to see it. Not rocket science.

Nobody is forcing anyone to click on anything -- what it does, however, is contribute to making up the sense of 'what kind of community is this' and for me at least, when I see these kinds of topics brought to so many bloody corners of the internet, it creates a really strong "you're an object" sense for myself and other women who might otherwise be interested in the actual topic of the board. I see this with popular 'horny posts' on gaming subreddits as well.

It's not about not entering the topic. That it exists and is popular on that board gives a rather offputting and uncomfortable feeling towards interacting with the other people on the board in other capacities, especially if you don't hide that you are a woman yourself. Hell, it's a large reason I don't really join a lot of gaming communities I might otherwise like and enjoy. Stuff like this makes it unpleasant to be a part of.

No, it is an excellent rule. I'm glad that it has been strictly enforced, as well.

that's not really an argument. you don't go to kids' message boards and put a topic about erotic images and then say "just don't click on it." it doesn't belong there in the first place, that's the real argument. it doesn't belong in that social setting.

it didn't really belong here either, nothing about GameFAQs and its social identity said "hey a bunch of weird ass horny kids and old men should be ok with sharing horny pictures". it's not in the site's identity. it was just a lax rule that got enforced as we got older.

Very good point, well put. I was actually thinking about this a few minutes ago and almost tried saying similar in my earlier post here.

The intent behind most of the changes Fandom has made was to make the site more welcoming to new users, whether we want to accept that or not, whether they have succeeded or not ... that still seems to be the general idea.

The constant hony topics made it really hard to actually recommend this place to others, a lot of the content actually.

I wouldn't be a fan of my 13 year old nephew browsing this place, and I'm the irresponsible "cool" uncle who bought him Doom 2016.

Honestly, this place is going to die anyways. So, really, who cares guys lol. It's a dumb rule, but whatever. Let's just move on. Most of us probably won't be here in a year or two.

The main reason why people "complained" about hornyposting was because that kind of thing slowly makes men view women as objects rather than people.

Reminds me of that story I read a few months ago where some remote village in Africa had access to the Internet for the first time and at first every was good, people used it to communicate with near by village way easier. Stuff like that, then they discovered porn and violence acts against women increased by a lot. That's the sort of stuff women are trying to avoid.

It needed to be stopped. There were a few people here who were awful about it, just shoving it everywhere in every topic. They wouldn't control themselves and keep it in their pathetic horny topics. People were being absolute fucking creeps about it.

It was one thing to have topics that were creepy. You could know what to avoid but some people couldn't help themselves and injected it into all kinds of topics, even when it was wildly inappropriate and disruptive. It's worth it to be rid of them.

As a warm blooded straight cis male I feel less catered to here from the rule. Which is the point I suppose.

I enjoy eye candy but if a majority of users can feel more comfortable here sans that, its for the net best. To think otherwise would be self-centered.

I feel like horny posting rule is way too strict. Could have just limited the rule to banning pics of non social media influencers/celebrities. Another solution is restrict the pics to only photo shoots instead of regular photos of celebrities minding their own business

With the rule, you cant even post a picture of Trish Stratus without getting flagged for hornyposting. Its dumb as hell

No, it was a net positive. Hornyposting is cringe. Also, it gave us hornyposting memes, which I find hilarious despite not wanting any hornyposting.

I honestly just dont see why anyone cares enough to defend such a stupid rule. We are a dying websight. It's more cringe to see people defend it. Lol and they get upset that I laugh at that.

If this was a popular site like ign.com. I'd kinda understand. Only a handful of people in the entire world knows we even exists. So much more bad negative stuff in the world. Really makes hornyposting seems like a harmless fad. But omg obviously some people here will see it as a disgusting habit dreamed up by the devil himself. You can always control what you look at. Don't like said topics. Just mosey on by. I see this stuff alot on facebook too. Someone sees a post about something they don't like. They call out the original poster and harassing them with rude immature comments. I get some pics should be moldable. And all you gotta do is mark and move on. I'm gonna get some negative responses obviously. But no worries..

I think there's a big difference between topics like the ass and boob topics, that were clearly showing women who wanted their assets to be seen, and whatever the fuck Vegy and Neon were doing.

If, this is a big if, Fandom is actually trying to attract more people to the site and they come here and one of the first things they see is what video game character has the biggest breasts, that's kind of off putting.

So if just outright banning it is the best way to remove the worst of it, then it's a net positive. Though I do think they've gone a bit too prudish and overboard with what is considered hornyposting.
