I drove a ship from this planet to another planet called giants deep and it look like a blank sphere so I thought oh there's going to be a load screen makes sense... and then I entered the sphere and that was like the water atmosphere of the planet and I'm just on this planet now.

Then I got off and I guess I needed a space suit because I choked to death immediately.

Then I tried again and my autopilot drove the ship into the sun, and when I came back there was dialogue with the engineer about that in particular happening.

There's no loading screen, the entire solar system is stimulated. That exhibit in the museum talking about the moon impacting the position of the balls and you is not a lie.

I also did the exact same thing on Giant's Deep lmao. "This looks like a planet with atmosphere, I'm sure I"ll be fine."

Autopilot is great, but as Slate indicates, it does just go in a straight line. If there's something in the way - like the sun - you will hit it.

Don't look up anything about the game btw.

I don't get this issue with Outer Wilds. Virtually every point of interest you find in the system is going to point you somewhere else. I don't think there's any location in the game that will lead you to a dead end. The game even opens with a giant thing exploding above you if you're really wondering where to go first.

Either way, it's kind of like saying Mario could do more to help fans who don't have time to jump. It's an exploration game.

Subnautica has its radio messages too, but there are stretches where it does just leave you alone, so that's a more understandable complaint there.

As someone who recently had some time to play the game, I still agree with what Stoner said. Everyone keeps telling me not to look anything up, but I remember being somewhat stuck where I was and felt like I wasn't making any ground.

As a kid, I would've loved to fart around and figure it all out in my own time, but as an adult with a family, my time is cut short. Maybe have a more direct direction option for those who want to enjoy all what the game has to offer without flying to the same planet 10 times doing things slightly different.

so if you have an image of a quantum object it counts, so you can use the probe to force something in stable position

I was thinking Feldspar would be on the quantum moon but it seems like he's in Dark Bramble through the seed

I've done basically all of Brittle Hollow as far as I know, there's just the hex stone place in the quantum tower that I haven't found one that gets text to show up at that wall. I brought the one from the white hole station and it didn't show any text. Also done most of Ember Twin but not Ash twin.

I waited for the comet to pass through the sun but I couldn't find an opening in the ice like described in the logs to go inside. I'm currently doing Giant's Deep

That's because it's like... the entire gameplay of the game? Like imagine playing a puzzle game and not understanding why the puzzles don't all come with walkthroughs

For anyone kinda enjoying the game but a little confused or feeling directionless I always recommend looking at the ship log, especially in rumour mode. It makes one of those conspiracy theory pegboard string charts to help you determine what pieces connect to what other pieces and gives you an idea where there's still gaps in your information

Puzzles are virtually as old as recorded history. It's a puzzle game, the whole point of the game is to figure it out yourself. Major gameplay spoilers: In fact, if you know the solution, you can head right to the end from the start of the game.

The main reason people always say that is because the puzzle is the entire point of the game. It's fair to be frustrated by that, but by looking up the solution, you remove a majority of the game.

It would be like having one of these little metal brain teasers. The entire point is to figure out how to get the ball out of the cage thing. It's tough at first and you'll probably sit there wracking your brain on how to do it. But wracking your brain is what's supposed to be fun about it. As soon as you know the solution, you can repeatedly solve it with no effort.

Gotta go to bed now but i did get to the quantum moon 6th location. A simultaneously really creepy yet melancholy scenario, left me wishing you could talk to Solanum more or communicate in a way that isn't just "TELL ME YOUR SECRETS". I guess that's probably flattering to a Nomai though lol

Also i wonder if there's an alternate solution to the moon because the shrine mentions "remember quantum imagining", but i didn't use the camera to get to the North Pole. I entered base point at Timber Hearth, orbited Giant Deep, went up near the pole and got the shrine to spawn there, orbited Timber Hearth again, and at that point the North Pole is unobstructed and the shrine can move there.

I was workshopping some ideas like taking a picture of myself or keeping the probe inside the shrine, but I couldn't get anything to work. Of course, you do need it to get to the moon in the first place but still.

i also tried taking pictures of Solanum in both states. It just seemed to prevent me from changing the moon's orbit, maybe because elements of the moon are necessarily in the picture even with a shot aimed at the air.

if there's a solution to the Timber Hearth poem puzzle I haven't figured it out. I observed that the order of the phrases can change but there wasn't an obvious correct way for the poem to be for me, maybe it's just for fun. It gets noted in your log though

Slight spoilers for the Quantum Moon shrine (not spoiling any part of the game you havent already figured out):

The wording on the shrine is actually quite importantthe shrine encourages you to recall the rules of the sixth location, and of quantum entanglement, but it specifically says You have recalled the rule of quantum imaging because, logically, you must have utilized the rule in order to reach the surface of the moon.

this isn't really a spoiler of any puzzles/lore but just in case you don't want to know I'm spoilering it anyway - if the thing you found is the blue section of the ship log, it's the DLC and personally I would reccommend setting it aside for now, it flows better as a "sequel" sort of thing

Seems like the last thing I need to do is get inside ash twin core but that may fittingly be the hardest thing. The logs say the core is perfectly sealed and I looked myself and didn't see an opening. I tried to jiggle around at the edges of a viewing portal into but couldn't really get any information. They mention in the same writing about sealing the project that they checked for cracks inside and out afterward so there's obviously a teleport into the project I'm just blanking on where it would be

I'm thinking of going back to the black hole forge when i get off work but like is there a less janky way to do that? I've done it twice by messing with the lift controls and then sprinting to it as it rises. I barely get on part of it with my jet pack and it's not even coded as stable ground where I land and I have to teeter until i build up boost again to get up to a thin fin higher up that's solid ground, and then I boost all the way up and get caught by the gravity ceiling.

Like there's gotta be a better way than this because if you miss the jump you go into the black hole lol. I tried boosting up past the destroyed vertical walkways but that geography also isn't coded as stable ground and I kept burning through my whole fuel tank trying to get up.

I looked up too many things out of frustration and kinda ruined it for myself. Wish I hadn't done it but I had a few games I was working on at the time and I just wanted to get through this one. It was very discouraging getting stuck. The payoff would have been more than worth it though if I had just kept trying.

I did recently do another playthrough to around the mid point but knowing most of the mystery kind of ruins it. Maybe one day I'll play through it for the dlc though but im distracted by osrs rn
