Im addressing strictly this angle that one shouldn't post in a topic unless they want to engage with follow up questions/discussion. Or else, that means "they are wrong."

That's a fallacy at best.
I honestly don't give a shit who posts where, but I'm also not the person who started the tangent about when people are allowed to share their opinions. Nor did I say that failing to support your point means it's always wrong, but that it's a poorly formed opinion. You're the only one talking about that, or what's "owed" to people

Maher's political ideas aren't coherent enough even for him to be called a neolib. What Maher is is an idiot who wrongly thinks he's cleverer than everyone else.

Neither was I the one who started it. That guy being an asshole about not wanting to elaborate is a conversation to be had, but there definitely was a tangent conversation by a few on insinuating one should not post an opinion at all if they don't wish to elaborate their opinion, before I got here.

And the latter part of your post isnt an accurate statement. The post I quoted which was your post, said that, "If a user isnt willing to elaborate on their response, then they should also consider just not sharing their opinions. This, "debate me" or "explain it more to me" attitude or you shouldn't post your opinion. "Or else it's a poorly formed opinion."

Again, you wanting an elaboration doesn't equate to said opinion is poorly formed.

An opinion being stated is simply that. Your want or need for a debate or elaboration about said opinion is not required. Going back to my example from earlier, if I visit a community that thinks the earth is flat, and I tell them it's not, I don't owe an elaboration to these morons just because they asked.

If you believe in God, and I say "I don't think God is real".... I don't owe you an elaboration as to why I don't believe in God. Nor is the opinion "poorly formed" if I decide not to engage in a discussion why I don't believe in your God just because you wish to know why.

An opinion doesn't require a debate or elaboration for you to be a poorly or well formed opinion. Not every opinion is up for a discussion just because you think there should be one.

That all being said, I certainly can't stop your opinion that "an opinion is poorly formed if someone won't elaborate their opinion to you."

He's old.

He cares about liberal values that were important when he was young. Anything that's come up since then is weird and scary.

He's essentially a socially conservative Democrat.

Yeah, I've seen this happen an increasing amount in both real life and on the internet.
