My favorite was Darth McGriddles, my Samurai Warriors 2 character who dressed in all black ninja garb, wielded the comically large spear and spoke with a lisp.

That's how I make most of my characters... I'm always wearing dumb outfits in Fallout 76, which is usually made even more funny because I have my guy at the max fat slider...

I did this with the Gentlemen of the Row mod for Saints Row 2 that has an optional feature that triples the range of the muscle and fat sliders. It was comical, but also not that great because the character's arms clip into their body if they are really fat. After about 5 minutes the novelty had worn off and I reverted all the changes to make the character normal again.

I remember playing Godfather on PS2 and made a joke character with all the wrong proportions. Dude's name was Leonard Fuckface and he looked like Gheorge Muresan cross-pollinated with Mario's plumber chic. Don't think I have that game anymore, but I almost certainly still have the save file somewhere. I seem to remember a lot of brutal SOCOM-style melee OHKOs due to screwy cameras.

Depends how immersed I want to be and if I can make changes later but generally for second playthroughs and most multiplayer games I'm making use of those sliders and wearing the most ill-fitting and garish clothing.

I love watching other people make characters in Bethesda games, wrestling games, Bauldurs gate, etc.
just to see what they come up with. Some are quite nice, while others are abominations.

I did for wrestling games, lol. Vast majority of mine, my brother's and my nephew's characters in wwf no mercy were random stupid creations.

When I am playing stuff like nioh 2, wo long and rise of the ronin I do opt for the attractive lady thing instead though.

i used to make a new and ridiculous character for each playthrough of a game, each with their own unique back story and everything.

now i do that for the first playthrough, and all future playthroughs are whatever the default is. the only rule I have is that each character must be named "Smitty Duderino" which is what I've been naming my characters since I was 5 lmao (or just Smitty, if the name didn't allow more than ~10 letters)

in souls games, Smitty Duderino looks like Thomas Edison combined with the creepy wide-mouthed purple guy from Spky Kids.

If TTRPG counts, I made a droid in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire with the goal that he would be as much of a hindrance to the party as possible while staying within the rules. I only built him to have Intelligence and Lore skills, so he was just a know-it-all nerd. I gave him stumpy little arms and legs so he had to slowly waddle from place to place, and he was heavy enough that at least two other characters had to lift him up and down stairs.

I grew to genuinely love BR-41-N.

I used to create a wrestler in the WWE games named Mr. Hoo-Ha. He was as short and skinny as you could make someone, with a moustach and dark mullet, wearing a shirt that said "Im'ma get me some hoo-ha!".

I should see if I can find some old photos or a video of it, but me and my friends in like WWE 2K16 made "Peepers Cabootle'. My favorite part is that his intro had him wearing a jacket with the Totino's logo on it (why was that even an option built into the game lol) but then he took off his jacket to show the exact same logo tattooed onto his back, lmao.

Yep. Me and my friend would always make the most ridiculous characters possible for the FIFA pro squad shit. Was always hilarious juxtaposed against the other people you play with that try to make cool looking characters and take it seriously. lol

I made a monkey woman in Dragons Dogma. Like, an old grandma hunched over with monkey face. It was fun for a while until it became grotesque

99% of characters I make are meant to be as ugly as possible.

I find trying to make them cool or good looking boring. Including cosplay.

Had to do it for FIFA. My guy had a massive droopy nose and chin and huge afro. Also had the commentary call him Bender

Also making sure any accessories on the character are ones that are extra huge and clip into surrounding limbs clothes or hopefully, other players.

Flashing lights. Sound effects. And fireworks as a bonus.

Neon colored, of course.

I forgot, I also make my outfits primarily in another category beyond: Ugly.

It's just in most games this doesn't apply or work, so I don't.

I actually played Soul Calibur 4 and 5 almost exclusively as a character creator game. I would spend like an hour making a character and then play as the character for two minutes, then make another.

The Tekkens and soulcaliburs (especially) are particularly good for this.

And are games where going the camouflage route work particularly well too.

Like making outfits where your opponent can barely tell what move you are doing because you're too blocky, too all black, with smoke effects, where they can't tell what throw you're doing so they have to guess. And can't even tell if it's a throw or an attack.

The blackness and smoke block all.

Oh, there is one more type of camo I like to use in Soul Calibur and Tekken.

You pretend to dress as another character in the game. Especially the most used one. (Lee dressed like Laws default, for example)

This can easily confuse some people. They expect certain attacks just by looking at your outfit. And on top of it, the confusion when your attacks don't match your outfit. Takes a bit to get used to. And on top of that they might laugh.

Before they know it, you've won the round.

I made a few of my Dark Souls 3 characters based on how funny I thought the reveal would be when they turned toward the camera in the cinematic before the Vordt fight.

It was actually the only reason I played online. I'd get my ass kicked, but hearing everyone else's mere acting when they realized they were fighting Me. Clean, or Princess Peach, or Willy Wonka made me giggle every time.

My husband and I once made a character in Saints Row 3 that was a naked old woman who spoke with the zombie voice option. She had a kitted out pink golf cart that was her signature vehicle. Anybody who brought it for her from the car call had to have their neck snapped so it was always a joke that the crew would be crying if they were told to being the boss her cart.

We nicknamed her Crispy Tits. Her singing in the car or just talking during scenes was amazing.

Edit: we also made the ugliest thing we could in Mass Effect once and it's now a permanent joke to say "Is this the kind of person you want defending the galaxy." As it's the dramatic shit/text with th character reveal.
