I never did that. I had a girlfriend in high school and the other relationship started when I was 21, and 23 years later I'm still married to her.

My 20s fucking rocked! Fought in a war. Traveled a bunch. Went to university. Went on tour with a band. Recorded a bunch of albums. Was in two long term relationships.

My 30s are fucking rocking (I'll be 40 next year). Published two books. Got my massage license. Recorded a bunch of albums. Traveled a ton. Was in two long term relationships and am currently married to the final one.

My 40s are gonna fucking rock cause I'm gonna release at least two more books. Record more albums. Go on another tour or two with my new band. Stay married. Travel to more countries.

Life is what you make of it. Do it or don't, but don't project a terrible world view upon others like those that believe high school was the best time of their lives.

30s is when your life starts (hopefully have a decent job to take care of yourself), smarter, and you're still young enough to not be seen as creepy.

Never liked clubbing, much prefer having a steady girl and stable life. Still get to fight and fuck, but also I know where I will eat and sleep.

You still seem pretty lucky and fortunate. I've gotten to the point where I've had to give up on all my hobbies and previous creative interests because it's impossible to profit off them and just a waste of time.

I turned 31 a while back and my situation is so bad that my best case scenario is somehow finding a way to afford a one bedroom apartment and just be alone until my heart gives out. My twenties were pretty bad, but by comparison were a lot better.

personally, i never quite felt like the "good times" ever started in the way OP describes

Yeah, I ain't gonna deny it. But luck is only a small percentage of it. I've worked hard when I had to so I could use the wages I get to live the life I really want.

I don't own flashy things. My parents are middle class and helped me with rent once or twice when I was changing jobs (I've worked 16 different jobs in my lifetime). Including living with wife/girlfriends, I've always had roommates, but I moved to a city in 07 with rent control, great public transportation, low(ish) cost of living, so that shit really cut down on a lot of where my paycheck went.

I dunno. Lucky, fortunate, moving to the city where my buck stretches further. Call it what you want. I'm always just doing me and what I think is best for my (and subsequently), my partner's lives.

Sucks you had to give up your hobbies, though. Sometimes it's not about profiting off them, but more about doing them because to not do so would make life unlivable.

I got started on things late. Took my time to go through college, so I didn't graduate until I was 30. My 20s were fun and I miss the days of playing Melee with my friends and going out to tournaments and events. Never was a clubbing guy and have always had zero interest in finding a mate.

Now that I am in my career and am 38, I feel like these last 8 years have been a blur. Not as much to note going on in my life as was in my 20s. The extra money and being able to buy most whatever I want is nice, though.
