It is a violation when actually clearly false. I've seen several people modded for such accusations against me.

Note that the key word is "clearly". They're not going to apply that in a situation where you made deliberately ambiguous posts, because while people doing so due to it just being how they talk is not unheard of, it's usually more sinister than that.

I didn't make the topic about any event in specific. I was speaking in hypotheticals. You don't need proof for hypotheticals.

I'm guessing it's:

I was at the gym before and just wanted to type something quick, but this is a good explanation.

If someone's subjective assessment of you is that your political stance is hardcore "Pineapple Pizza," that's an opinion. Maybe they see that you only post pro-Pineapple Pizza stances and constantly share anti-Calzone news. It doesn't matter if you actually vote for the Calzone party every 2 years, that doesn't change their subjective assessment of you.

And all too often are there cases of, "I never said <x>!" Then a user posts receipts. It's not against the rules to have a working memory of what other users have posted. It's another matter if they're bringing it up in unrelated topics just to troll you.

Ultimately, this is something users should be able to handle themselves (again, unless it edges into harassment). If you say that you believe something and show that you mean it, it won't be an issue. If other users say that you've said something, and you constantly reinforce that, they're going to continue to believe what they will.

There is, but you can't link to or name it here. You can post screenshots from it though, as long as the screenshot doesn't contain any ToU violations or show the name / URL of the site. Likewise you can talk about it as long as it isn't in a way that tells people how to find it.

It's also not perfect; if a post gets taken down (either through moderation or self-deletion) quite quickly, it won't catch it; and it's unreliable when it comes to posts that have been edited.
