Its pretty good. I think its heavily overrated though. I feel like it tries to do a bunch of things that all end up feeling shallow

The satisfying controls and artistic value successfully distracted me from it being a really bad collectathon with uninspired repeating bosses.

Personally, I think this game has some of the best controls ever. Mario has the right amount weight and speed gameplay wise, this game is very fun but there were way too many meh sections/ worlds Wooded Kingdom > Cloud Kingdom fight > Lost Kingdom > New Donk City is prime 10/10 gaming everything before and after pales in comparison ... Most fun I had in a collection type mario 3D platformer since super mario 64. (I didn't really care for sunshine like that and the galaxy games was just ok to me).
Great controls and the most interesting worlds out of all the collection 3D marios imo. The controls are good and Mario moves fluidly but most of the levels are really, really, reallllllly bad. The city level is cool though.

Definitely more good than bad. My only real issues are with how empty some of the levels are and the very mediocre boss fights.
