Final Fantasy IX

OG VII, X, Tactics will always be my top 3.

Squaresoft era FF was so good game after game. Been with the series since the start. Sure I didnt love every title. I kind of thought VIII was a dud considering how much I love the 2 games before and after it but still all in all pre-merger Squaresoft was sooooooo good. Especially counting their non FF games.

Of the ones listed 8, although I think 9 is probably the best of them. However, 14.

VIII has the best characters.

The sweet vindication of always knowing 9 was the best, and the internet coming around to see this almost two decades later.

VIII > X > XII are my top 3. Still easily my favorite series.

FFVI.

Interesting IX is doing so well. Thought VI, VII, or X (not on list) would win it. Thought IX had too many mechanics that were underbaked (Trance, its card game with insane 100 card limit, terrible thieving rates, level up stats based on armor, etc) as well as an ugly art style (lots of ugly characters and uncanny valley going on), and themes/plot points which went completely over my head when I was much younger. Still, at least it has a 4 character party, which is an improvement over the 3 character parties VII and VIII had.

X and XII

14 and Tactics.

11 is probably my favorite. 14 and 6, 7, 9 and tactics are all also up there

IX is my fave, VII and XII are right up there and V has recently worked it's way in

I've only played 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 15, and the 7 remakes. Of those I've only completed 7 + it's remakes, 9, and 15.

Of those, I'd probably say 9 was my favorite.

Not that I mind, but does anybody think FF 1-3 should NOT be on the poll? They have their goods, but they're pretty aged and too unlikely to compare to anything that came afterwards. Should have made room for X and up.

Of the ones that Ive played, VI and IX are far and away my favorite in that order, with the caveat that I havent really touched new installments of the series since X-2.

That pretty much sums up my stance, too. It's a tough choice between VII and X if I had to pick a clear favorite, though. Guess I'll go with X for now.

Voted VI, but I think I'd place XIV at the top. Tactics is also up there, maybe top 3. At one point I'd say you can't include XI and XIV in a list of favorite FFs, but the main story in XIV is no different than a mainline. Just...overall better and more epic, with more time dedicated to characterization and world-building.
