The card system sux

The card system was actually kinda neat, just overly cumbersome.

If you set up your deck right, you can spam sleights that trivialize just about the whole thing. Like Sonic Blade, for example.

It introduces and prominently features the best character in the entire series! That alone makes it worth any gameplay struggles!

There are some interesting things about the story. This was where it first started trying to get pseudo-philosophical.

Yes~

Use cheat engine to make yourself invincible and give you all map cards as well as infinite moogle points.

Makes the game much more fun if you're one of the people who hates the card system in it but still wants the story.

The second part of the story after beating the first has a fixed deck

I mean, in a way, the BBS system was just taking the basic idea and making it better. And technically not about cards.

When I went on my Kingdom Hearts binge in preparation for KH3, I played like an hour of CoM before deciding I'll just watch a cutscene video of the game to see what all happened.

The combat is actually interesting and well thought out, unfortunately Kingdom Hearts fans have a stroke when they need to press more than 2 buttons to fight anything

The problem is more that if you have bad luck you will potentially be kinda fucked with putting together good sleights because you just haven't been getting the cards you need from your pulls.

If the whole game was like Reverse Rebirth where you have a set deck? I wouldn't have problems with the game. But that randomness involved in Sora's story in it? Just irksome.

Nah its not very good. The card system isnt balanced at all. You can totally break the game super easy

Reverse Rebirth was way harder than Sora's story. There was one particularly annoying fight (fighting against Rikku? Been a very long time since I played) because you were stuck with a shitty deck fighting an opponent with stronger cards. Had to constantly spam combos just to get rid of the shit cards.

See, this is your problem, you assume that it's the difficultly level of CoM that people dislike. When I rag on CoM it's not because it's difficult.

Yeah.

It lost the sleights, but it was still better than having to shoulder through buttloads of cards to find the potion when you needed it.

I played the GBA version a lot back in the day, but I still haven't finished the remake. I think having to deal with the camera and locking on while shuffling through cards made it just a little too complicated or something and I lost interest. I'm sure it wouldn't actually be too hard, but it doesn't feel as good as the GBA version. I kinda still wanna do it some day for the new stuff though.

Also Lethal Frame is still the sickest special move in most KH games

You can tell the game wasn't meant to be played in a 3D space.

I liked the system on GBA a lot, didn't play the remake but I could understand how 3D camera movements could create unintended complications the side scrolling view didn't have.

I like how reactive the system is compared to typical KH, love to counter with Zantetsuken to control enemy options. Plus just having the collection of slowly optimizing your deck on top of your typical level ups, gives a feeling of equipment that KH also usually lacks.
