During my working years , I worked in an office and I think on most days I actually really worked maybe 1-2 hours, the rest was just "pretend to look busy". How much work do you feel you actually do?

I'm in meetings 3 hours a day, maybe do some actual leg work 2 hours a day, then I just find ways to disappear in between meetings

My job is mostly sit around and look busy type of job. Sometimes we have really busy days, but most of the time not much is going on.

Working from home every day except one made things so much better. I no longer have to fake looking productive most days. Just have to be available in case something comes up.

I would say a decent chunk of the work day in actually doing work since my job involves a lot of fielding of non-scheduled items.

I work at a power plant so even when I'm not actively engaged with a piece of equipment making an adjustment I'm in a room that constantly monitors temps and pressures and looking at the trends of these to anticipate any issues and respond to any alarm immediately.

So it is difficult to answer this really.

I just got promoted and they gave all my old responsibilities to someone else while not giving me any new work except for a monthly report they haven't even shown me yet. So every day this week has been literally sitting at my desk all day pretending to check emails and research.

On average I probably do about 2 hours of work a day. The nice thing about working for tips is the more I work the more money I make. And if it's slow, then hey, I'm still being paid to sit around and contribute to fine GameFAQs threads like this one

I just started a new job which is mostly responding to other people so the "training" for the job has been waiting for emails or people to tell me something to do. The vast majority of my day is staring at Gmail. I am slowly getting more tasks though.

About 10 hours in an 8 hour day.
Today was interesting that athletes came in, so for like an hour, i had to shadow them while doing my job. Something tells me they probably thought i was a manager, too.

Depends on what shift I'm working. It's a front desk hotel job, so it's easy enough even when I'm busy.

I generally only work 3rd shift, which usually isn't very busy. Maybe an hour or so if still checking people in. Then I have to do the audit at 3am, so like 20-30 minutes of paperwork. Then I have to set out the breakfast and start checking people out at the end of my shift. So id estimate maybe 2-3 hours of actual work and the rest is just being available to the guests when they need something.

1st shift is a bit busier, and I've had to do lots of those recently. I have to check everyone out, answer the phone all day, clean the lobby, file more paperwork, make the housekeeper list and keep that updated, and deal with early check ins. Sounds like a lot, but it's not a whole lot worse than 3rd. Maybe 4-5 hours of work, most of which isn't super demanding or only takes a few moments to handle.

Second shift though, I can't deal with that very often. My manager is aware of my social anxiety so he keeps me off that shift if possible. But on busier nights, it's basically a solid non-stop line of people. The full 8 hours, usually starting at the end of 1st shift and bleeding into the start of 3rd.

Thankfully so far this year hasn't been super busy. We've only sold out a handful of times, so it's not as bad on each shift.

More than Im paid for. There are times I have a bad habit of fucking around on my phone while Im on the clock, but that just results in me taking work home. And, even when Im on top of things all day, I often end up taking things home regardless.

at my last job, i was driving a school bus, so 95% of the time i was waiting. there was like... 5 minutes a day where i wasn't because i would get to the school or first stop early and then would just sit around and wait.

mcdonalds i was nearly always working, overnight shift, lots to do because our evening shift people sucked balls at doing their tasks.

car dealership i was working 90% of the time, detailing cars, moving cars from dealership to dealership, picking up customers.

warehouse was all go, all the time.
