Like yeah $1M is still a bunch of money, but the buying power of $1M these days is nearly half it was when the show first started.

Ill still take it. Im considering applying to be a castaway on the show.

That time Oprah gave away a bunch of shit ("YOU get a car! YOU get a car!"), many of them had to turn them down because you still have to pay some for them.

They used to have to stay on the island for 39 days, now it's like 26.
$1Mil is still good.

Yeah, it's a lot of money, but not enough for me to go through the shit they put people through. You gotta be some kind of masochist to go through that, IMO.

I think so. They are on like season 40 something even though the show is around 20 years old only

Even Big Brother went from 500k to 750k

I get it's only a month, but the stuff you need to do on Survivor should still make it a decent bit more money than, say... Answering trivia questions (Who Wants to Be a Millionaire) or spending three months in an actual house (Big Brother). Yes, I realize Big Brother is 750k, and it's also a longer time, but... You're living in an actual house, with all amenities provided. And they're always pretty damn nice houses. I'd rather live three months in pretty much maximum comfort, over a month of Survivor.

$3,000 is like if you get voted off first. Thats way more than I make in a month and youve only been on the island for three days if youre voted off first.

Play better if you want more money.

Looking into it further, Big Brother contestants get paid $1,000 a week. Even if I didn't win, $1,000 a week for living in a very nice house, getting to meet people and play a game of deception/wits/whatever you want to call it, like Big Brother, and so on, still sounds a hell of a lot better than Survivor. It'd basically be a vacation that I still get paid for at a non-terrible rate.

Harder to do. She said in Survivor she could just go off in her hut and be by herself most of the time. The Big Brother house is actually pretty small and they are all on top of each other most of the time having to be socially active or else they will outcast themselves and get voted out. Plus Survivor you are out in nature with fresh air and stuff. In Big Brother there are very long stretches of time where they do not see outside at all and are just inside under studio lights 24/7.

Given the situation, paranoia is just going off like crazy in the Big Brother house. It is anything but a fun relaxing time. The mental drain the game causes is insane.

Oh, so that comes down to a difference in person, then, since it sounds like which is easier depends on whether you'd rather have physical hardships or mental hardships.

Yeah, I have absolutely no problem being around other people. I don't need that "alone time" so much that it'd override having... Actual comfort. Likewise, the paranoia... Screw it, I'm being paid $1,000 a week, regardless, to just kinda fuck around and see how well I can do. I'd absolutely pick that over Survivor.

To the people in the game, the house/game becomes their entire world. All they do, think about, or can even remember. To them, the game is existence and to be removed from the game is akin to death. That is the paranoid mindset they get into.

You should watch the live feeds. Shit is crazy. Nothing at all like the show which is highly edited to seem like a fun time.

It was the oldest cast ever that was cast catered around her including (the sole reason she was there) her son.

To be fair, I have, granted back in the days of people like Dr. Will, who absolutely could separate themselves from that actual anxiety and just play the game.

Granted, I do acknowledge it probably takes some kind of sociological disorder to separate yourself that much... But I truly, earnestly, feel like I have it, which is what guides my choice of Big Brother over Survivor. I have an extremely much easier time separating myself from something, mentally, than I do physically. That said, I am an extreme extrovert, to the point where I actually feel weird not being around a lot of people, so that might have something to do with it.

It certainly could be a term (probably involving MAGA), but at its core sociology is dealing with groups of people instead of individuals so disorders don't really show up in the field.

Yeah, I defaulted to that because I took sociology in college over psychology, and I knew "sociology" meant dealing specifically with groups of people, so I figured the term made sense. Google tells me the correct term would have been "social disorder."
