There's nothing that will sway those people.

Yes, it will. There are enough republicans around the fringes who will not vote for him that the slim margins will tip towards Biden

I think it will help his chances if anything, on the premise that the stupidity of our country always surpasses my expectations

I think a not-insignificant part of his appeal has been his ability to get away with things. For people who got mad about OJ and Bill Clinton in the 90s, Trump represented someone who'd use impunity "on their side."

He's not gonna lose Nick Fuentes over this but your median American voter is not particularly fond of convicts.
