Yes, a bad blueberry doesn't taste like much, but a good blueberry is damn amazing. The quality of fruit is highly variable. How many times do we have to teach you this lesson?!

I hate when people say "You just haven't had a good one" when someone has an unfavorable opinion about something. But it's also sometimes true. Really good fresh blueberries are amazing. A lot of the stuff you find at grocers, even some decent green grocers, are kind of trash.

I mean, ymmv on a lot of fruits

Sometimes I'll get grapes and it tastes like plastic and water, and sometimes the same brand will have a batch picked straight out from a heavenly garden, it so good I can't stop eating it

Like a lot of fruit it depends on the source and how ripe they are.

But yeah they usually go better with something sweet since on their own they can be sour and bland like strawberries.

Personally, I don't think they actually look that great. They do generally taste pretty good, usually.

I'm not a fan of regular blueberries, but the slightly dried ones you can put on oatmeal that they sell at some coffee places are good, IMO.

The perfect fruit would have the appearance of blueberry with the taste of grape.

I mean, it tends to be the case. My cousin thought he didn't like bacon until he had good bacon. Farm fresh blueberries are a world beyond what you'd get at a grocery store. And I thought I didn't like tomatoes up until I had some in Italy just last year.

Their size determines the flavor. Bigger they are, sweeter they are. Smaller they are, more tart or sour

Eat real blueberries or billberries as they are called apparently. They are amazing.

We have tons of it in the woods here, thanks to the right of roaming we can just pick it.

Sour sometimes

When you buy blueberries (or any berries, or any fresh food, actually) at the supermarket, read the clamshell to see where they came from. If it's far away, you know that they are going to be a variant selected for ability to survive shipping over taste.

I'm lucky to be in Michigan, where we grow great blueberries. And cherries, too.

And we have ABC Pies. Those are pies made with Michigan Apples, Blueberries, and Cherries. They are phenomenal.

Like any fruit or veg, the difference between local farm fresh and something that was picked unripe in africa and then frozen and shipped thousands of mile in a cargo hold only to be refrozen again is night and day.

I remember liking them as a kid then went ages without last time I tried them I remember the taste being ok but it had like a slightly gritty texture that threw me off.
