SO...never been to big a fan of the show but...its clear that after Superman and Lois is over next hear Nexstar will have completed turning CW to a graveyard throwaway channel....its a damn shame.

I thought Superman and Lois got canceled years ago with the rest of the Arrowverse shows.

So perhaps a continuation of Supernatural?

Seems like CW is going to die now.

My understanding is that CW shows themselves were never profitable from their airings on the network. The money came from the backend for the owners of those shows (who also owned the network). Since the network is now separate, there's not any real reason for them to renew shows they aren't making money on.

Same old story. Something gets bought by new owners and gets run to the ground.

I would say that does seem like Broadcast TV, and even Cable TV has been all but sacrificed for the glory of streaming but even streaming is starting to crack for everyone but Disney, Netflix and Amazon...does feel like the entire entertainment industry is starting to implode from greed.

Like, it starts to hit home when you realize there is legit hardly anything coming out in the fall...and all the major streaming shows have such long gaps that its really leading to wide gaps of nothing coming out anymore...and the shows that come out end to quickly now to with how short seasons are if they are not just released all at once.

Im surprised it lasted more than a season

Deserved seeing as rebooting Walker spits in the face of the OG which was a classic

This is likely the real reason. It killed one of my favorite shows on a different network that was also a WB show. Person of Interest. CBS felt they were not making enough on it. WB recieved more of the money made from it. It still had good live viewing numbers for 2015 but I don't think it was enough for Ad revenue for CBS. For some that don't know the more popular a show is the higher the network can ask for ads from companies.

Did it need a proper finale? The original was a procedural iirc, akin to Law and Order. Just case of the week shit.

Yeah, that was a one season and done.

It ended well enough for closure. I still think that the universe might be visited once again. It has a loyal fanbase, myself included. I watched live from season 5 to 14 with out missing a single episode live

So bring back Supernatural for a proper non rushed final season where Sam and Dean don't die.

I admittedly watched a show on CW the last couple years. It was a reboot of Kung Fu. I actually enjoyed it. They did some restructuring last year and cut a bunch of shows and Kung Fu was one of them. I was disappointed.

Don't get me wrong it was cheesy and very very tame and PG. It had all the modern touches that annoy people where they seemed to go out of their way to have a diversified cast, a gay character, female lead, all the things that piss off a bunch of chuds but I thought it had good characters. It had an absurd story line, but good characters.

One thing I noticed in later seasons is how useless Sam is. Boy, does he always get hit once fly into a bookshelf and lay down for the rest of a fight dazed. I don't remember what season it swapped to, but he's become a useless hunter that always just falls over in a second.

I'm on the beginning of season 14 and it is a struggle.

I'll never understand why Wayward Sisters wasn't greenlit but the Winchesters was smh

Kung Fu was a very good show! I wish it had continued but it at least got a proper ending. I also wouldn't call the diversity "forced" since it took place in Chinatown.

I mean CW had largely ceased being a teen drama channel by 2012 where it mostly became a genre TV channel focusing on sci-fi and fantasy. Even Shows that you would think would be straightforward teen dramas like Nancy Drew and Riverdale were fantasy shows.

All American is like the one outlier of the last decade where it was a long-running show that didn't involve super powers, the paranormal, sci-fi or fantasy elements.

But none of these recent Nextar developments are a surprise. I figured it would take about 2 years from its purchase to purge the channel of everything in favor of extremely low-cost programing. The CW of old was just not an entity capable of generating profit, which was fine when it just existed a content-arm for WB and CBS but would never work for an independent owner.

Well the wayward sisters episode was well received and had high viewer numbers it may have seemed like a surefire greenlit unlike all of supernaturals other attempts at a backdoor pilot

But they had already picked up a show called legacies and felt that the two shows would be to similar so they decided not to go with wayward sisters.

And then Claire's actress popularity suddenly sored and she never returned to supernatural which is a shame cause she still had a lingering plot thread for her character that was never really resolved for her
